I know you were asking mal, but here's my $.02 if you care... I've known several people with Outbacks that have had transmission issues and problems with seals and gaskets. Sounds like they are quite leaky. I was looking at the Outback last year and ultimately decided against it and got a Kia Niro hybrid for my daily driver. It's not a all-wheel drive, but I get 50+ mpg just driving to work and back (45 mile round trip) in city traffic.@malinoisvol - I did a VN search on Subaru Outback, and I saw (Dec 2020) where your dad was considering buying your mom an Outback. What did he wind up buying, and if an Outback, how has it worked out?
I rented a RAV4 when I was in Denver and liked it, but the road noise was terrible, and it sits a bit high to get the Moms in and out, plus me in the passenger seat on a bad knee day.

Do you happen to remember what model years they were? It’s amazing the range of owner experiences, from rock-solid reliable to demonically possessed (the car, not the owner, but not always easy to tell.)I know you were asking mal, but here's my $.02 if you care... He thought about it. Lol. Then bought him a brand new F150. She has a 2018 Dodge van. They'll put a couple more years on the Dodge then look at a replacement.@malinoisvol - I did a VN search on Subaru Outback, and I saw (Dec 2020) where your dad was considering buying your mom an Outback.
