Yeah it is unbiased because i know more of whats going on than you do. :fool:

What if I told you that the company I work for is based 3 miles from Williams-Brice Stadium and I've been in Williams-Brice almost as many times as I've been in Neyland in the past 5 years.

P.S. - How much you know has nothing to do with whether you are biased.

I would say Spurrier WAS one of the best coaches. He has not been working the magic. He beat UF and UT in 2005, but other than that he doesn't have ANY wins while at USC worth mentioning.

When was the last time the Gamecocks accomplished either of those feats? I believe it was a few decades ago. I don't think they'd ever beaten both schools in one season.

Unless I'm mistaken, 2005 was the first time they had beaten Tennessee or Florida since 1992 at least. Before that, they rarely played either team since they were either independent or in another conference.

My bad, I was thinking of a USC victory in Neyland. I forgot all about Tanneyhill beating Shuler and Co. in Columbia.

Those post heart surgery Johnny Majors games from 1992 are easy to want to forget.

Anyway, I give Spurrier credit. Holtz left the cupboard pretty bare. The few good players he did have were booted off the team as he left. Spurrier came in and managed to be successful (by Gamecock standards) with a really patchwork team. I mean, how many positions was Steve forced to make Syvelle Newton play? I know of at least four.

You guys are crazy if you don't think Spurrier is doing wonders for SC. Wins against TN and FL, top 10 recruiting class, Clemson fans not being as...well...Clemsony as the used to be??? That sounds insane compared to 5 years ago. I know Holtz kinda sorta helped but Spurrier is doing great.

Also, someone said a few pages back that FL lost more than LSU, that is true. However, I have more faith in UM than I do Les Miles and I also think Tebow will be better than Flynn.

No offense, but you just dont know enough to be able to say that. Youre looking at this from an uninformed, outside point of view.

Name the quality wins that SOS has since being at USC. Looking at the schedules it doesn't look like a coach that is dominating and should be considered on of the best in the nation.

HE'S AT SOUTH CAROLINA, everyone's "Vandy" (including Vandy) until Holtz go there. It takes time, I don't care who you are. SC has beaten FL and TN in the 2 years he's been there. It took a MIRACLE for FL to beat SC last year, and they got one (actually 2). SC played AR a whole lot better than TN did last year. Here's a bold prediction, SC WILL BEAT GA this year and give TN and FL fits. They racked in a top 10 recruiting class this year. That and the dominance he had at FL tells me that he's a phenomenal coach. If Spurrier was at TN we'd be winning SEC Championships and would be in the National Title hunt every year.

You didn't answer my request. You made excuses. Understandable.

You still can't answer the question, can you? I think SOS is the best coach in the conference, but you can't even back up your argument.

Apparently some people posting on this thread either weren't alive during the 90s, or weren't football fans. For those people, do some research. Florida was awesome, they humiliated TN time and time again. The SOLE reason for that was Spurrier. South Carolina was horrible. They were the punching bag of the SEC. That's because Spurrier was at FL, not SC. Now Spurrier is at SC. SC is good. I am going to say SC is good. They won their bowl game last year. They fully compete with great teams. They may not have any quality wins (there, I answered your question) but they're a good team and Spurrier is a great coach.

Question: Do you think Spurrier is a bad coach?

True, Fulmer was the NC in the 90s, but FL had our number. And Holtz did improve SC but they started dropping towards the end of Holtz's reign.

I think the jury is out as to whether he is the same coach he was 10 years ago. Coaching is a young mans game and you do wonder if he spends a little too much time on the golf course. Also keep in mind that the defense has really carried his teams since he has been there and we all know SS has almost nothing to do with the defense on his teams and holtz left some good defensive talent (and admitably not a lot of offensive talent).
