Inappropriate. Tusktimes...you and others are always welcome as long as your manners are on display. As for this one, I guess his mother never taught him any.

It was a joke man. Get over it. My mother taught me plenty of manners thank you. If you take the time to write that this is inappropriate, I'm sure I will be able to look back in your post history and find you were in absolute outrage over some of the other stuff posted on this board much worse than this. I guess you've never watched Anchorman either, but no big deal. Go out this weekend and buy yourself a sense of humor.

Tusktimes: Hope you got the joke and were not fooled into overreaction like Ashevillevol, whose sarcasm meter is broken.

I can wear the correct orange here in Baton Rouge and don't get any trouble for it, maybe just some gentle teasing or asking how we'll do this year. Even when I wear hunter's blaze orange, some people think I'm repping Tennessee.

You can't go subtle with it, you gotta GO BIG and just put it out there with some swagger.

Amen brother! I love repping our colors when going out of state. Somebody always comes up to me to talk football or yells go vols. A lot of people tell me they went to ut or their son/daughter did or they're just a big orange fan. Pretty awesome when you're far from tn

I live in Lexington, Ky so I get the same reactions as OP. The usual exchange:

Them:"We own ya'll in basketball"
Me: "88-58"
Them: "Wait til next year"
Me: "I thought you all saved that line for football"
Them: (crickets)

Volnation is a big presence in Texas...especially DFW...put a Vols sticker on your vehicle and you're going to get honks from other motorists and if you go into the store with UT gear be prepared to have a conversation with another transplant...18 years going strong...WE ARE LEGION

I wear my Tennessee stuff all the time in Fl. Never had a problem. I meet a lot of other Vols who introduce themselves.

I work seasonally around the U.S. and never get any negative treatment. One instance I thought was a little strange was visiting Santa Cruz, CA and walking the boardwalk last summer. I encountered easily 20-25 people wearing Vols shirts/hats. I figured it must have been a group trip or something.

I talked to a couple of different parties, and apparently they were all there independently and thought it was odd so many Vols fans were there too. Still can't figure that one out.

I live in Dothan, AL which feels like the Tuscaloosa of the south sometimes. I wear it and people generally dont care. They actually feel sorry at most times.

Wife and I were in Israel last week of March/first week of April last year. One day in Jerusalem, we encountered about 75 or so Israeli soldiers. They were in a group but apparently resting near the old city. I was wearing a white cap with an orange power T on the front. Suddenly, I heard, "GO VOLS!" followed by another guy yelling, "TENNESSEE." I went over to them and discovered that they were American Jews who had volunteered to serve a couple of years in the Israeli army. Never thought I would meet any TN fans who were in Israeli army, but it was a pretty cool experience.

I have noticed a phenomenon among many friends and relatives who grew up in East Tennessee, but moved elsewhere as adults: they became much stronger Vol fans living in hostile territory. While they may have followed the team and watched the games while in East Tenn., they weren't "radicalized" until they moved away. Suddenly, they're wearing Vol attire more frequently, getting their kids' pictures taken wearing Vol attire, talk more about the team and display a much greater knowledge of the team when in town, etc.

I live in KY also. Most people, and I'm serious, bring up when they beat us in football in 2011. Not kidding. Happens all the time. They talk about it as if they had won some championship. I'm always sure to say, "Yeah, good for you guys, seeing as my mother was pregnant with me the last time you beat us."

I thinl people who live in east Tennessee take being a fan for granted, you can just hop over to Knoxville and watch a game of whatever sport or just stroll the campus when you want to, and plus everybody there are vol fans..but when you live far away and only make it down once or twice a year, I think your love and passion grows more. And you appreciate the vols even more.. just my opinion from someone who lives outside Tennessee

Hawaii loves UT! My wife and I were there and I wore my UT hat everywhere I went. I would bet at least five times a day people would walk by and say GO VOLS! Not one negative comment.

Well...from about 1995 to 2006 Alabama fans wouldn't look me in the eyes when wearing my UT gear. Now they want to talk smack! Just typical of fans.

I was stationed at Ft. Rucker for a few years and before that I was in Fl. Alabama was the worst, I would get F the vols at stop lights, had my UT plate stolen, and someone tried to peel my power T sticker off the back of my truck. That's the worst place ive ever lived. I sang back where I come from at a local Enterprise bar in full Tenn gear while getting booed and at the end I said roll tide.....they cheered and I said just kidding F*** bama! I actually got a few beers bought for me.

Living outside Birmingham for two months now. I wear a TN hat or shirt most days. And unless im in a white trash bar no one talks trash except for just ribbing. However there is a bum who lives behind the gas station I use who always says "Saban goin' beat der ass, can I have some change?"
