Looks like the 5-6 season and no bowl is paying off!!! The coaches have had time to get out and get in the recruits faces and it looks like it is starting to pay off. I would hate to see what this class would like like if we had gone 6-5 and won or lossed a meaningless bowl game.

Duke Calhoun- Us, Ole Miss, Arky, or Memphis
Michael Goggans- Us or Auburn
Brandon Warren- Us or FSU
Aleric Mullins- Us or UNC
Adam Patterson- Us, USC, or one of a couple others
Dekoda Watson- Us or USC
Perry Riley- Us or LSU
Kelvin Sheppard- Us or LSU
Brandon Heath- Us or WVU

If we land Hawthorne, Goggans, Warren, Mullins, Patterson, Riley, and Sheppard, our class will be pretty stellar.

Rivals already has Tennessee listed as Goggans' school... I haven't paid close attention to this thread, just the last few posts, but is he waivering or something?

The common thought is that if we land Brandon Warren, Goggans may look elsewhere

Did Heath ever show up on campus this weekend? If not, you have to figure he is WVU bound.

i know there are alot of ifs. we will either get goggans or warren most likely. word is that riley and sheppard are coming to ut. we are leading for mullins and patterson. we are pretty much out of it for watson, calhoun, and heath. hawthorne is a wild card.

Guys, I haven't kept up with recruiting as well as you, but I know we are loading up on tight ends especially if we get Goggans ond warren. Goggans, according to a recruiting expert that Herb Winches had on his B'ham radio talk show, apparently is a great athlete and apparently Warren is also.

My question is this; can any of them play other positions since we may wind up with four TE's. I remember when Bama signed Patrick Hape from a local school here he was a TE in HS and they later switched him to fullback. He is still playing in the pros as FB or H-Back.

I think they want to go real deep in te's but i know they want warren for a third down de rusher.. I know they want a bunch of te's cause cutliffe intends on bring back the use of TE the the vols next season..

I hope we pick up some of the key guys left on the board and move up atleast into the top 15. Would it still be possible to move into the top 10 or is that out of the real of possibilities?

Thank you, thats what I thought after looking over the team rankings on Scout and Rivals, but im new to all this recruiting stuff so I wanted to ask people who knew more about it.

Things had been starting to look up this past week or so. There are going to be some big players committing Monday and the last thing I have to say about it until after Monday has come and gone is......I don't think it's going to be a good day. :huh:

Exactly what is the "'Recruitniks' take heart" article on the home page supposed to mean? We should be happy that we are not getting highly rated talent because our coaches can't develop it anyway? I do not understand the article. We each get 25 recruits. I'll take 25 five star guys with great physical specs. You take a bunch of "scrappy" two and three star guys. Assuming we both have good facilities and decent coaches, who has the better chance of playing for the BCSNC in 3-4 years?

the guys with more heart and determination would of course. Big highschool players dont always pan out into great college players. And alot of times if you are ranked on rivals you are really good and there isnt that big of a diffrence between a 4 and 2 star. Take raines for example, he is a two star cause he played in a sorry league in georgia. Now when you watch tape on the kid you can tell he is special.. There are alot of factors that go into ranking these kids...

I agree, but playing against weak talent means you are somewhat of an unproven commodity. I am glad we have some decent football commitments and I hope they all sign but the last thing I want to see on this board is a bunch of posts from people trying to justify a bad recruiting season by arguing that 4 and 5 star guys are overrated and we may have diamonds in the rough. I prefer to get my diamonds already polished, thank you. I have said it before, this is the first time that Fulmer's recruiting prowess, the one thing that we repeatedly hear he is great at, has really been tested. Any chump can recruit well when you have a big time program with a winning season. This looks like another chink armour to me.

LET'S JUST SEE OUR STAFF DEVELOP THESE PLAYERS!

Enough of this we have a top 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25th ranked class. Hell, we've had TOP RECRUITING CLASSES for YEARS! Top 5 recently & generally a top 10 class, but our Staff hasn't been able to IMPROVE all that outstanding talent ONE BIT from game one till end of season. Thus UT's won absolutely nothing!!!

Boys & girls, this is the season everyone has to get REAL!!! Otherwise, we can settle in to medioricy and watch AL., uf., UGA., Auburn, LSU & others continue to pass us by.
