Recruiting Central

monday well be very very very nerve racking. If the vols pull all the guys that day I will have to fly down to Tennessee to shake fulmer's hand for a job well done...

A little off topic:

Anyone else find it funny that the Spurrier and the 'Cocks got a QB named Smelley. Man, I would have hated for him to come here and have to listen to all the Smelley Cooter jokes.

Hey, it looks like UT is moving up in the recruiting ranking. Great news.

Not being one that keeps up with recruiting how do we stack up in the SEC. In particular, uf, UGA, LSU, SC, AL, Ole Miss, Ark, etc.

For what it is worth, Hooker at KNS wrote an article today speculating that UT had a great shot at landing Sheppard, and he gave all the credit to TT.

Ramone Johnson
Brandon Warren
Kelvin Sheppard
Perry Riley
Jeremiha Hunter

I will add to the above:

I still think possibly Heath, although may be WVU.
Hawthorne could be a suprise here I think
Mullins - don't you guys think. I think he's a vol.
Patterson- I am not giving up hope on this one.

Well, I made some guesses on the first list a will likely be wrong. Now I'm hearing Sheppard and Riley a looking more like UT. That being said, since we're recruiting Riley as a safety, I don't know that they'll get Heath. I think Heath may be headed to WVU. Jeremiha Hunter may also actually surprise some people Saturday and pick Iowa. I still think it's between us and Iowa. Everything he's actually done and said after his official to UT and his visit to Iowa would point to us IMO, but there doesn't seem to be much confidence among insiders. He's announcing Saturday night.

I'll still stick with Johnson and Hawthorne. Mullins is a fore-gone conclusion unless UNC pulls off a miracle this weekend. I think the commit of LT Walker to Louisville just backs up what I was hearing, that we were too full on the d-line to take him. Also, apparently from people close to the situation, Brandon Warren is still 50/50 between us and FSU. He was on a high from his visit to FSU, but his mom still would rather him be at UT. This weekend is key with him. We'll find out on Monday. Goggans also has committed to the coaches of whichever team he finally chose, but won't make it public until signing day. I think that speaks well for UT, but I could be wrong.

Ok....

Thanks. Can you move up...yet not gain at the same time?

Well at least we're beating SC & Vanderbilt. But wait, does that really matter.

8pm et time right?? (sorry I am a west coaster...)

you think we got him? I seriously have no clue on him. I havent really been following him as much as others...

I agree with most that I read there. Well I am not sure about Jerimiah Hunter. I feel like that he is a hawkeye but i havent been following him that hard..

called it

Yep, good call. I would've never thought he want to go to Iowa after the comments he made following his visit. Didn't seem like he was that impressed. Oh well, I thought he'd be one of our surprises but I was wrong. I sure hope my other surprise guess Hawthorne comes true. Heath likely isn't headed to UT because, as of now, he's not in Knoxville and isn't expected to be. Look for him to go to WVU. Hopefully that means we've got Riley wrapped up.

This recruiting season has been extremely odd. I guess 5-6 will do that.

Well, I was right about Ramone Johson. Hunter was a wild guess and Hawthorne is just on a hunch. Seems now like the coaches had to go with either Riley and Sheppard or Heath and Hunter since we only had room to take two of those four. Since two are safeties and two are linebackers, I think we may have already got silent commits from Riley and Sheppard. Apparently the word around St. Mountain, Ga. is that both of them will commit to UT. Credit that to Troop if it happens because he never gave up on them. We're going to know about almost all of the kids we're after on Monday. I think Patterson, Dekoda Watson, and Greg Davis may be ? until signing day. Watson and Patterson are guys we'd take reguardless of who else is committed but I don't think Davis is. Goggans won't go public until signing day but we should have a good idea by then.

so lets see mullins, hawthorne, warren, riley, and sheppard on monday?

Yep. I believe Mullins will be a Vol from reliable info. Now I'm hearing Sheppard and Riley more and more. Hawthorne has been set to announce with friend Deantwan Whitehead on monday, but some aren't sure it will happen. My guess is that it still does and he announces for his self proclaimed dream school UT. Was told earlier today, from someone close to the program, to expect Patterson and Warren to sign with UT also. I just find that hard to believe right now but I'll take it. I know Patterson had us in the lead after his visit but word came on strong that it was South Carolina not long after that..........and Warren also has the family/location thing going on. So, I can see it.

If that works out that will be a HUGE close, especially with Patterson and Warren.

vols2345 you have been right about these commitments alot more often than not. Do you have some kind of inside info or are you just that good at reading into there comments?
