Recruiting Coordinator Zach Azzanni

That 6'10 OT is the only one off the top of my head. But you can keep saying "who did we lose that we were supposed to get?" every year. Such a silly criteria. It doesn't mean you had a good recruiting class. It doesn't mean you didn't finish at the bottom of the conference.

I was asking a question. Maybe I don't understand what you're saying. What criteria are you using for deciding that the new staff failed this year?

I never understood why we hired a coach that couldn't win at Lous Tech and expected him to win in the SEC. Maybe butch will work better and maybe he won't. I just hope we hired someone with some common sense this time.

Remember we got Azzanni because Tee Martin turned the job down to stay with his boy Kiffy out west.

Well, likely Tee and Kiffy both will be looking for new jobs next year. Maybe Tee will be supported by his wife's imaginary singing career...

The obvious criteria:
11th in the SEC.
Out-recruited by Vanderbilt.
Whipped by Ole Miss.
Not even in the same league as Florida and Alabama.

Are there excuses for this outcome? Sure. There will always be excuses for failure. You'll be able to make excuses next year and the year after that too. Doesn't change the fact that you haven't gained even the slightest bit of ground on your competition, but instead are still falling further behind.

So you're speaking more about the class, not the staff. Is that correct? If so, I agree.

That was just the first truck that hit. The next truck is going to be when they actually have to play the games, lmao. They are going to be looking around wondering wtf happened to them. :birgits_giggle:

If that does happen I don't find that funny at all, so I don't know what the giggle was for.

If you all are that unhappy and that pissed at this staff that hasn't even had a chance to do anything yet go pull for somebody else!!! Either get on board or get out dang all the negativity gets old. And you wonder why we are here, well it's all the negative fans that want rid of coaches before they get started!!! Geez give it a break and get behind these coaches and this team they are the future so wish them well and support them! It's not the 90s we gotta rebuild and it takes time.

He and the rest of the staff just got a rude awakening of Big Boy SEC football recruiting and got run over. They did a lot of good, but hopefully they learned from this and will do a better job for next year. Now they need to coach and make the most of what we have or it's just gonna get worse--- in before everyone screams " but they didn't have enough time" see AR, AU, etc..?

"They only had a month!"

I'll bet you said the exact same thing 3 years ago too.

No I didn't I wasn't on here then but I will say that I was never happy with the Dooley hire!! I did support him for our team and university but he was in over his head (IMO)! I just think that there is more to this rebuilding than just recruiting classes and wins! Now with that being said I want to win and I want to winnow just as every body else does. But I have seen a new energy associated with this program that has been missing for a while and have seen and heard more enthusiasm surrounding it!! That's what has give me a new, different hope!!

Based on the logic of some on this board, if we don't have the #1 recruiting class every year, somebody needs to be fired. Looks like some folks are living in la la land.

The title of recruiting coordinator is significantly more than a title, especially at a place like UT. They are in charge of most of the logistics and details about where and when coaches travel and prospects that they see. Some are even in charge of calling the high schools to set up visits for the coaches. The RC title is RARELY given to the top recruiters, because they need to be out and about more than the rest. The RC must be organized, intelligent and able to manage and juggle several different things on his plate at one time. This is on top of their own personal recruiting responsibilities.

Based on the logic of most of this board, it's okay to finish at the bottom of the SEC in recruiting as long as you can make an excuse for it, as long as you can pretend that your coaches will "coach them up", and as long as you can imagine that a staff that got out-recruited by Vanderbilt is somehow going to put together a top 10 class next year. Yeah, let's check and see who is living in la la land.

Well, god bless you. I hope you're right (I was on board with the Jones hire myself until yesterday). That said, I've seen this all before. I don't want empty promises and subjective notions of "hard work" and "energy". I want results and I don't see any. I would like to think that the rebuilding has started, but I just can't find any evidence that we're gaining ground on anyone.

Will some of you just accept the facts, that the programs outrecruiting us have had more success lately. Have had a coach longer than we have and/or are more familiar with the recruiting grounds here. If you're honestly bashing this staff already, then stfu and go root for another team. I'm so tired of all the negativity here. Whining isn't going to do anything.

Fulmer fell asleep on the job. Kiffin and Hamilton burned what was left of the program to the ground in 1 year. And then Dooley and Hart basically took the last 3 years to escavate all the crap and run us completely in the dirt. And now you expect CBJ to take us to the pinnacle in 60 days. Heck, at the risk of offending some folks, Jesus Christ himself probably couldn't do that.

Why must all you Vollyannas use a straw man argument? I know the facts aren't on your side, but you could certainly be more creative. No one expected Butch Jones to land a top 10 class. The problem is, he finished 11th in the SEC, behind Vanderbilt. He didn't gain any ground on anyone. If anything, he fell further behind.

Did he inherit a bad situation? Sure. But if you don't take big steps in improving that situation, it's never going to get any better. And I don't see Jones making any strides like the others who have been able to pull themselves out of the difficult situations they inherited. I mean, Hugh Freeze and James Franklin didn't walk into great situations either, but from the outset, you could see them making strides to improve things.

I feel like I'm in 2010, part deux. Year zero.
