Small hits 2002 on 388 carries for 5.2 ypc and has 24 TDs
Wright hits 1855 on 311 carries for 6.0 ypc and has 15 TDs
Sampson is at 670 on 103 carries for 6.5 ypc and has 12 TDs

Small is a true Senior and I believe could still exercise his COVID year
Wright is a true Junior and with how the NFL values RBs he could return for his 4th year, if he does he has a great shot at becoming the all-time leading rusher (and 2nd to go over 3k) here if staying healthy
Sampson is a true Sophomore and will likely see a huge uptick in touches next year regardless of if Small/Wright both return or not

Plays have been good overall with some questionable situational calls. Players getting open and rushing attack is eating. Drops like Keytons two have been awful. I am curious why Joe looked so different against Clemson to this year… he’s made some good throws that were TDs dropped but then made some poor ones as well. My gut tells me Halzle and Heupel are just rolling with the run game because 1) it’s working and we are 5-1 2) they just don’t fully trust Milton and his capabilities to air it out more like Hooker was able too.

Either way it’s nice to see some coaches playing to our strengths and not being stubborn in their calls. Heupels O is adaptable.
The receivers aren’t playing up to expectations either. I have high hopes for Nimrod going forward, and will be curious to see if someone else steps up next to Squirrel.

Jimmy Holiday and Callaway too. Portal kills depth.

But can Dont'e really not play outside and do anything? I mean why not throw him out there? Maybe he will mess around and run 24 MPH past someone.

Seriously why not? Will he actually be worse than Keyton, Nimrod or Webb? At least we'd have talent out there.

The kid is an overall experienced WR and is listed at 6'5", why aren't we throwing the ball for him to go up and high point? Should be throw and catch all day...

I'd think Wright would go pro, but with this "who cares about RBs" attitude in NFL front offices, maybe he sticks around if the NIL is right.

We've played 6 games and Nico has only appeared in 2... they won't outright say it, but I'm sure Nico, his family, & the staff would love nothing more than to let him RS this year.
There really is no reason to jump the gun here. Kid needs to get bigger. Joe is what he is. But he has the team, AP at least got that part right. Joe just has to work harder, that's it. So far he hasnt played up to or near his potential.

but going to Nico would be disastrous. Ive seen that movie so many times, no thanks. Ride the 5th yr Sr., this isnt Jarrett Geronimo folks.

It’s difficult to KNOW what a player is considering when making a potential jump to the NFL, but if Wright finishes on his present course with 1000+ I don’t see him returning. It’s correct that running backs have been devalued in the professional ranks, but as a result there’s an increased demand for younger cost controlled replacements. His numbers hold up and there’s no marketable advantage to seeing if he can excel…again next season. More adverse risk that could turn his prospects from draftable to UDFA. Small I could definitely see return…pause for audible groans from some posters. 😉

I feel you....41 and married. Glad you and your buddy didn't go full Kiffin & Orgeron and invite them back to your on campus sex pad. I would wonder what vibes you and your buddy were giving off that they thought you were gay but I think many young ladies today are indoctrinated into thinking all men are either toxic-masculine rapists or gay with no middle ground for non-creepy, respectful men who aren't going to chase any tail they see.

You and your buddy don't have nearly matching wedding bands do you?
It might have been the hand holding or backside caresses that caused the confusion. Some bros do that I guess?

I've not crunched the numbers, but I can say Wright won't be a 1st rounder and the yearly $$$ available for RBs is already pretty low compared to other offensive positions. So that extra year of NIL money and another season of what will likely be a better offense (Nico in year 2) next year could help his draft stock a ton.

Wright is 26th in the country in rushing yards, 16th in YPC, and 227th in rushing TDs (he only has 1) and the NFL rarely drafts a single RB in the 1st so unless he finishes the season strong it's a big uphill battle.

I could be wrong, but I thought this was the last year for the extra Covid year.

Who knows...Small was here and played in 2020 (the COVID shortened season) and I've always assumed that was treated as a RS basically, but it's also something I've not seen clear information about either.

No clue how my comment got this reply...but as disappointing as the passing game has been I agree. 5-1 and if Joe plays to his potential on Saturdays we're damn near unbeatable with how good the defense and rushing game has been this year. Just keep riding it and winning, Tee Martin got a Natty with far worse performances.

You’re wrong. There was no time frame to utilize the Covid year. It simply removed a year that counted against eligibility. A true freshman that enrolled in 2021 would be in the first class unaffected. So, in theory with redshirts and waivers, 2026 might be the first season where it’s not a factor.

yeah he could be looking at our OL when the season wraps up too
