A couple of things:

First, how did Keyton drop that? That pass was so soft I could have caught it, and I’m just an old chump.

Second, I know I’m a know-nothing chump unlike wise Danielson, but I don’t see how the timing on that pass to Nimrod could have been better. If not for the PI that’s a TD.

sitting here trying to find closest Vol example to James Peace Jr. Best I can find is LL

While a bit unfair, LL was a dog. Absolute freak with power and straightline speed. Seems like he could play the run better.

The PR, although not as big, or physically gifted as CP. His juke move certainly brings back memories. Almost a Ced Houston kind of move, although Ced was a bigger back. I think CP was much faster, and a freak. It’s time to put Dee Williams in the 'spect column. Will play on Sundays. And may be in the All American debates.

Healthy Curt Maggitt was another although I think Pearce is better.

Keyton has cost joe 2 touchdowns and about 100 more yards this year. Maybe more.

Keyton dropped 3 passes he should've caught iirc. Not sure what his deal is.

A lot of his coverage isn't shown in the highlights, but 2-3 are. Hopefully @Freak makes us one of those "every defensive play" videos like he does sometimes.

I was impressed with his pass rush/run stopping play, but was really surprised when he was in coverage.

Same here. Have noticed it multiple times this year. He covers out in the flat pretty often and does it very well. His pursuit speed, angles and tackling are top notch. True OLB....not sure I've ever seen a guy that can rush the passer who is as versatile as Pearce. Little was great but Pearce is an overall better player at a young age and going against better quality players consistently.

There was an even more clear cut PI where Milton threw a perfect pass to Nimrod close to the endzone and the DB was grabbing and pulling Nimrod's right arm as he was breaking in from the sideline to make the catch. Also a bad no-call on a deep ball to Ramel. At least 6 points and probably 10-14 points taken off the board by those no-calls.

Also two very bad "holding" calls on Wright runs ended drives. One called against Webb and one on Castles. Game was closer than it should have been due to bad officiating.
Overall I thought we got the usual amount of "Tennessee officiating" and the normal 10-14 point spot. Watch out next week though, we will be in SEC home territory.

You’re correct. So add up both of those TDs to his yards, he could’ve had well over 250 if not for the PIs. That has always been the blueprint for Kirby. Just hold the WRs and make the refs call it. They felt bad so they gave us a free face mask by Bailey on the final drive.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think the season so far has been a ruse to lull the second half opponents into thinking that they can play us as a one dimensional rushing team.
Offense is going to light up the next 6 opponents through the air and also on the ground. 😳

There’s an unrealistic expectation of optimism for y’all. Don’t be upset if it happens.

14-1 🤠 regardless of the means, whether by land or air.

That reminds me, Barnett bursting onto the scene was aided by a disruptor on the other side of the line in Too Maggitt. This year, Baron and those tackles are preventing teams being able to commit all the protection to Pearce. So *golf clap* to the entire line for Pearce’s production.

*that is not to marginalize JPJr; only to brag on the whole DL

It’s just a difference of opinion. I was taught to treat the opponent with respect and still beat the hell out of them. Just me thouugh.
A lot of people were taught that, but many times it didn't take. Booing does no practical good, it's like complaining about taxes. Oh wait a minute, it has fixed the officiating.

I just hope we keep calling the same defensive game plan that we have since after the Florida debacle. Hopefully that finally showed them that we can’t sit back and play soft.
^^^ This.100%.

I want to see adjustments in the D during the game, especially the first half. Stop waiting until half time to make them. I did see some well called quarters coverages in the first half, but the soft zones on third and longs are ridiculous. Gives me the willies thinking about Third and Chavis.

Get pressure on the QB and force quicker throws on third and long. We've got CRG developed studs on the D-line who know how to get there. That helps Willie's guys on the back end by keeping the receivers in front of them in man and quarters. It all works together.

The crowd booed every time the opponent entered Neyland. That’s low class and inexcusable behavior in my opinion.
I understand the misperception of the fake injuries that have happened in the past, but it’s fairly obvious that these were real injuries…
It may have been magnified because I was on the student side, but I am not a fan.
We’re Volunteers! Not gators, bammers, or dawgs dammit.

The booing when entering the stadium every team has been happening for years. Nothing new and seems to be more fun than violent. The student F fill in the blank chants are very low class in my opinion and come from the student section. The booing when the opponent comes out of the tunnel is good nature just for fun at least in general. Not sure about the student section
