Recruiting Football Talk VII

It’s not a weird flex, it’s facts. Just look at the penalty disparity last year. They were almost 3x in penalties and yards. It can go both ways and we benefited last year. You are going to drive yourself to insanity breaking down every play of these games expecting change.

In the gospel of SEC football bad/biased officiating is canon.

As to your numbers argument see #30,890 paragraphs 2 and 3.

It is completely feckless to cite those numbers. There is no equivalent to the law of gravity that necessitates that no team can commit more penalties than another.

Similarly, the talk about the disparity in numbers this year greatly misses the mark, which needs analysis of each play and its context. It's really just a set up to bring up last year's numbers as a false response to this year's plain rigging.

We had this conversation the other night. No one could identify a single penalty called on Bama that game that was called incorrectly. Bama just assumed perhaps that PI, for example, would not be called on them because they historically cheat with impunity; but that doesn't mean the calls against Bama last year were not correct. They were -- each and every called foul -- and the huge missed call when their WR pulled our DB down by the back of his jersey but the PI was called rather on our guy who was fouled is evidence that there was at least one major miscalled penalty that gave Bama a TD. I do think last year's game was the least manipulated in recent memory.

But you still haven't explained, as I requested, why you choose this moment to bring last year's game up, since it acts as a de facto excuse for this year's inexcusable rigging. There's no other purpose it serves.

No one can prove that it's all rigged or whatever

But it's a fact that the officiating have been so bad that it has maybe cost us games this year. If not games, but a better chance at winning and at the very least some points.

UVA game had no real issues.

Pearce and Baron have been held like crazy all year and we have had almost zero PI's in our favor.

We have to stop letting games get away from us, but referee's need to be better.

If Kentucky has a couple good possessions we can't let it ruin us and it would be nice if the refs will call them for holding if they hold, PI if they interfere with a pass, no phantom kickoff penalties, bs crack back blocks etc.

No question Vols got the favorable calls during that came. The whistle was on our side... can't deny it.

@Jack Burton I can imagine that you have some callers that say things that might embarrass you, how would I know? But whatever a few wackos may say, if they are wackos, that has no bearing on the reasonable and correct things many of us are saying here. And please please don't go on air and "clap back" at them by advancing an account justifying Saturday's game-stealing officiating. It was the most blatant I recall ever having seen. Please don't (effectively) stan for Bama because someone may have riled you up.

And you know I was bragging on your reading comprehension just yesterday! 😂

I’ll be interested to see the reaction the first time this happens to Texas. And it will happen.

That’s a program that’s used to being treated like royalty. I’m guessing they won’t go along to get along like so many in this conference have done. Should be entertaining, at the very least.
Did it happen to texas this year in tuscaloosa? I didn’t watch the game, but I am guessing that the refs were calling it fairly or more likely, not an SEC officiating crew.

Anyone know?

I didn’t watch closely enough to know. I know Texas got jobbed at home against Bama in Austin last season.

Most their penalties were pre-snap. If you want to play devils advocate, at least put all context out there

I would genuinely love to talk sh*t about Kentucky, make fun of Kentucky, and laugh at Kentucky. But y’all are making it hard to even post something funny about Kentucky
Game thread is up. Mock Kroger's finest there, my man! Can't wait to read your snarks! Should I be worried that their new QB is obviously better than Mayo Boi?

A lot of those were pre-snap penalties where the officials have no choice but to call them (like they did one time against the gumps this year). Much different than inventing sh!t to call against us, ignoring blatant holding, calling defensive holding against us because we breathed on that punk-@ss Burton, etc.

And who says we're driving ourselves crazy? I think we are just pointing it out. Maybe it would drive you crazy to believe it, and that's why you won't acknowledge something that is so obvious.
