All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside back collar of the shoulder pads or jersey, the area, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling the ball carrier down.
The top priority is burying completely the apparently well attested aspect of the case wherein Michigan illegally stole signs from non-opponents and provided those signs to those teams' opponents for the purpose of altering last year's playoff composition. That would mean that last year's playoffs and championship was tainted.Funny during the CFP..... show not one of the guys thought Michigan should be punished on the field...only a big ass fine for Harbaugh and the University.....unreal if it was Tennessee they would want to give the death Penalty....not unexpected from 2 Alabama alum...1LSU guy ..and 2 Buckeyes...
It says immediately take them down, which means drop your weight and drag them, not throw them sideways. The dragging down is what causes injury, not throwing someone to the side. The intent of the rule was when Roy Williams tackled Terrell Owens that way.Horse collar rule:
According to the rule, any type of tackle in the side or back area of the collar is a penalty. Doesn’t say which way you tackle them. If player safety is what it’s about, then a penalty should have been thrown for Jayden Daniels getting thrown like a rag doll from the horse collar area.
Again, I’m absolutely beside myself I’m seeing so many good posters defending Gumps. Y’all oughta be ashamed.
That’s how it was first written, but when injuries kept happening, the rule was expanded. Daniels was taken down as a result of the tackle. It was only expanded to include the are of where the player is grabbed. The immediate taking down from behind is what causes injury, not slinging sideways. We had one of our guys tackled the same way as Daniels was and I didn’t think it was a horsecollar either. That’s how it was first written, but when injuries kept happening, the rule was expanded. I’m not defending the gumps. I’m commenting on the specific play. If you don’t like the rule then change the rule. Did y’all know you can grab the QB’s nameplate while he’s in the pocket, immediately pull him straight down, and break both his ankles but it’s not a foul just because it happened inside the tackle box?Horse collar rule:

That takes the fun out of the conversation...put your big girl panties on....I have this thought. It’s a foreign concept here on volnation, but just hear me out. It’s possible, stay with me now, it’s POSSIBLE to have a difference of opinion and discuss it without calling someone a blind idiot or getting upset about it. Just a thought.
