Recruiting Football Talk VII

Why did SEC bring in Missouri from the get go? NO ONE likes going there. Its a dump of a program. What does it add to the SEC? And if you say money - Ill shake my head bc its a rhetorical question.

They should have NEVER been invited to our cinference. Offer nothing. They dont even have a rival. This is sour grapes, yes. But ive stayed consistent in my disdain for that dump of a program for years.

Think about Miami, FSU, Va Tech, hell even Virginia. 🤦🏼‍♂️
Yeah it should’ve been a Va Tech or like NCSt over mizzou

Well I don’t think that’s true that he couldn’t do it anywhere but uga, in fact historically that would be incorrect. He did it here already I believe.

How long he’s an analyst depends on how long his buyout is at arky, which I must admit I don’t know the details of what that would be.

Our OLine clearly drives our offense. And we need an elevation in talent so they can be trusted in pass protection in addition to running the football. Plain and simple, you have a talent deficit when you are forced to starting Ollie lane, a player that would not start anywhere else in the sec, and who had to be convinced to keep playing football a year ago. Its an area that needs to improve if our offense is going to play at full potential like last year.
He took Dan Skipper with him to Arkansas…all 3 stars of him. Previous tenure with Arkansas? Average OL recruit was 3 stars. Same with North Carolina. Coached up a 4 star 1st round draft pick in Jonathan Taylor who washed out in the league. No fanbase has mythologized a coach who merely held serve to the HISTORICAL standard at UGA as cult-level fanboy as us. He’s a good OL coach who can develop what your program can deliver to him…like what we got. He doesn’t miraculously transform your recruiting up a notch…just facts. His mere presence would be useful. Not arguing that. I’m not sure how much bank should be spent for that usefulness…allz I’m saying.

if A&M pulls the trigger today; is there any players that vols will go after? are there any that may be interested? (apologize if already been asked. i skipped a few pages this morning. )

I think Joe has improved his pocket presents a lot. He seems to sense the rush a little better and is moving better in the pocket. Still not great. The two TO were obviously terrible. I appreciate what he has done, but also am ready to see what Nico can do next year. I am not packing it in. I think we have at least a puncher's chance Saturday. Teams have looked terrible the week before they played us and then had a great game. We can do the same to Georgia. We also play much better at home. Not predicting a win. I do predict we beat Vandy and win our bowl game to finish 9-4 or better.

49ers vs Jaguars is interesting...49ers are -3 on road, both teams coming off bye week..give me the Jags and the points.....Cowboys vs Giants is -17 ..that's a lot for NFL ..Tommy DeVito at QB for Giants🤔 take Cowboys and the points...
Deebo and Trent Williams are both back today. Purdy one more week past his concussion. Give me 49ers +3 all day.

Most likely lose BJM when Banks leaves. Martinez contract is up in January. That’s three gone. You move Eckler to ST coach only and bring in a new DB, DC, and LB coach. Pretty easy.

We have enough money to get whatever DC we want. Danny White will be sure we get whoever we want. Football drives the operation and we have to have it running well.
We cannot get whatever DC we want. We can find someone who we like who we are willing to pay top dollar for. I am not saying I don't agree that a change is necessary. I am saying it's not going to be as easy as throwing money at somebody to find a significant upgrade.

I think everyone would kick those tires. A&M is going to beg those kids to wait and see who they hire, but they won't keep all of them. Walter Nolen might be a candidate that'll look our way. Maybe he's grown up a bit.

Nico's RS status is of no consequence.

This staff's philosophy is to play older, experienced players and develop talent behind them. They're playing the guys they want to play. CJH decided pre-season that Joe was their guy and he has reiterated this all year. Injuries have impacted their plan somewhat, but they convinced some of these older guys to come back and they're playing them.
Maybe they are wrong? That’s fine if they want to go that route. But when they under perform we can’t afford the talent hit because they will go play elsewhere

We, like almost all fan-bases, have so many fair weather fans. They seem to forget the entire history of our program, especially since 2005, and act like petulant children when we don't meet THEIR expectations. They forget 11-2 and finishing in the Top 10. The thing is, the weather this year is still pretty fair. If we finish 9-4, that's tied for the second best season since 3rd best season since 2005 and sixth best season if we finish 8-5. One game does not make a trend. As someone mentioned, we are 6-7 on the road since CJH came here. And, that's with going to Bama and Florida twice and Georgia once. Yesterday sucked. 25 out of 35 of our previous yesterdays did not suck. Sack up, ya big babies.
There are TCU fans calling for Sonny Dykes to be fired. He got them to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game last year.

TCU.

T-C-U!

That’s the absolute high-water mark for their program since before World War II. But because they’ve taken a big step back (which was almost certain to happen, let’s be honest), they have people that want to can the guy.

I think Heup and staff deserve some criticism for this season. Honestly, I think they have better personnel than the results they’ve produced, and they need to take stock and try to find some answers for obvious recurring issues. But you have to keep it in perspective.

Our program was too unstable for too long for us to realistically expect that when we finally drove the thing out of the ditch that we would merge right on to the autobahn. There are going to be peaks and valleys for a while, and all things considered, the 8-4 Valley is not bad, as far as valleys go.

Just gotta fix these road no-shows. Those can’t continue, whatever your perspective.
