@mr.checkerboards it won’t let me reply to your post for some reason but from diving into some stats he’s had 1 year in his years as a DC that made him a hot commodity. And it was at SDSU.

The pic you posted about the success for multiple years at SDSU were mainly while he was LB coach, not DC.

I’m not saying he wouldn’t have success here. I was just expecting more since this was a name I’ve continually heard the last couple years.

Here we go 🙄

That's BS and Tannehill's comments were taken out of context last year. He said it wasn't his job, and its not, but didn't say he wasn't helping Malik.

Even Malik said last year he had been super helpful coaching him up and helping him out and he addressed the comment at the time saying it was taken out of context and he knew what he meant.

Media sucks

Hes aggressive is what I like about him.
Also it's hard for me to judge a guy at MSST when coming to TN is a talent upgrade.
He may be a bust, but I think a lot of things are better than what we have.

USF's records the last three years:

2020 = 1-8
2021 = 2-10
2022 = 1-11
2023 = 5-5

Alex Golesh is a hell of a coach. I think we sometime might not have factored that as much as we should have with our success last year. As Halzle improves, we will too. He is young and seems like a smart guy. He has a good mentor. I believe he will get better with his play calling and our personnel will certainly improve in years to come.

We haven't recruited well enough for next year to be THE year. Not to mention we'll still be limited by scholarship reduction because of Dumbass Pruitt. Even if it's just two a year, that's a big deal on a team in serious need of depth. Nico could be all-world, but he can't do it by himself. I just don't see us having the horses for next year to be THE year. I mean, making the expanded playoffs? Sure, that's possible. But I don't see us winning the SEC or the NC. And I assume that's what people mean by THE year.
I agree with this. We do not have the depth. We see what happens on the road without a veteran MLB. We need depth, not just quality at the 2nd and 3rd level of our defense. We also need the same with our OL. I like that our WR's are improving. I love our RB's. I like our top level talent but until we stack 2-3 deep, it will not matter in the SEC. You either need to have rosters like Bama and Georgia, or be blessed with minimal injuries when you have a veteran squad to compete.

You think 2024 is going to be “the year” when we’re gonna have a near freshman QB who’s gotten almost no snaps…. A receiving corps full of guys who don’t look that impressive, have to replace at least three but possibly all five offensive lineman, losing our best linebacker in Beasley, and possibly all our best defensive lineman not named Pearce?

2024 ain’t going to be “the year” at all.
When Heupel was hired, there were many posts about how we should temper expectations until 2024 bc it would take him time to get his recruits and to fix our dumpster fire. I didn’t say 2024 is the year we win it all, just that seemed to be a majority consensus for when we should expect to be competitive. I’m frustrated too, but people forget how bad off we were. I think it’s helpful to take a step back and see that we are making positive progress as a program and realize that there are going to be bumps in the road along the way.

Joe Milton starts vs Georgia, IF Tennessee lose Saturday....then against Vanderbilt let Nico start and see what he can do in a full 60 minute game.....Go Vols...
Road with Joe all year and then sit him in last game at Neyland on Senior Day? I want Nico to get playing time too but that scenario listed ain’t happening.

Everyone knew this was going to be a down year, but there are still some incredibly frustrating aspects that the staff could have easily fixed so that we dont choke games like Florida and Missouri. It is obvious we do not make halftime adjustments, or very minimal adjustments if that. That is something the staff needs to fix and work on. Another thing is the lack of development at safety, some of the botched zones on Saturday were because of the safety’s, however, we did NOTHING to fix it during the game. Our linebackers have regressed this year significantly. Idk what happened to Beasley, but It seems he has gotten worse as the season progressed. And same thing with Herring, bro runs like he has cement in his feet. And why did we not actively pursue a qb in the portal last year? We have 2 scholarship qbs, one of which isn’t ready to play yet, or so im told, and the other qb is a 6th year senior who cannot make checks at the LOS and cannot run our offense effectively. Why did we not try to get someone in to take over for Milton when he struggles if we dont want Nico to go out there? There needs to be some staff changes, particularly on the defensive side like Banks, Martinez, BJM, in that order, but also look at how bad our receiving core has been this year too, maybe Pope isnt the wr coach we thought him to be. And also, lets look at our S&C staff as well, we have been plagued with injuries the past couple of years, could some of that fall on our S&C staff?
Fire everyone…. that will get it done.

Same on iPhone. Did it just now, dammit. It’s made me click on ads that then gets me a call from HR.

They have spent a lot of money for a long time (long before Jimbo) and have gotten very little return. Short burst here and there but not much considering the investment. Very difficult to overcome. culture. I compare ATM to Auburn, they both have a little brother mentality.
I remember when Texas A&M and Jorvorskie Lane were gonna run all over us in a bowl game. . . now I go look up the game and can't find a bowl game where jorvorskie lane played against us. . . it's weird, I know I remember reading bowl previews and hearing them talk about Lane.

Get off my grass!
