Unpopular opinion, but we need to do better in recruiting. Expressed it last year, too, and got lambasted. Probably will this year, too. But when you look at the classes that Bama and Georgia continue to put together (have you seen their head start on next year's class), we are so far behind. And you have to look at Bama and Georgia because that's where we want to be. That's the goal. And it just gets harder with Texas and OU joining the SEC.

I like Josh Heupel, a lot. And I hope he can figure recruiting out. He's done great with what he has, but to get better, you need better talent. That's just a fact. We need to win more recruiting battles.

Here are the facts of said gap:

2021 Class:
UA + UGA avg
94.28

UT
88.89

Gap
5.39/player

2022:
UA/UGA
94.13

UT
88.1

Gap
6.03

2023
UA/UGA
94.47

UT
90.87

Gap
3.60

2024
UA/UGA
92.86

UT
91.7

Gap
1.17

And yes I get UA/UGA will probably close on big guys as usual down the stretch, so let's be very conservative and assume a huge jump up to 94...we're still at 2.3....would still be about a 60% gain on where we started and just look at the trend...

He got In trouble at Notre Dame, that's why he ended up at Marshall....believe he committed to another school also FSU I believe @butchna can tell you...
Never reached Notre Dame and got kicked out of FSU…back when you had to be on a terrorist watch list not to get a degree from there.

quantity versus quality….
To a degree, yes. But this point is overstated by some (not you).

Even Bill C. has shown your top 10 recruits in each class are a better metric than full classes and Butch did have some nice top end talent in there.

He didn't make good on it all, but he did bring in some nice talent. Enough to beat Uga b2b and get UF off our back (should have won 3 straight if not for his in-game coaching lack)

we have had better classes the past two years than we did any year with Butch.
This is fact...

But also relative to a degree. All top 20...30 classes are higher quality these days. Just look at the averages in the top 7-20 range. Have risen, especially with NIL (my guess). It's just nice to see UGA/Bama have plateaued and now other programs are closing in.

What's it mean? Maybe we have bigger gaps vs the worst programs. Maybe we have more "guaranteed wins" like Bama and UGA enjoy so much.

We, and 20+ other programs will also be more capable of challenging the big dogs than the past 15 years...

Additional evidence that the NCAA is one of the absolutely worst managed organizations on the planet. What a damned joke.
While I don't disagree overall - I do disagree in this instance that the committee did anything wrong.

The committee literally stuck to the "law of the land" in this instance. All 131+ schools have an agreed upon rule they chose for themselves. Should a committee of a handful of volunteers upend an agreed upon rule...even if they think it's stupid...all by themselves?

I'd question the govt if a committee overruled a law that congress had passed, because those handful of individuals took it upon themselves to decide, despite the apparent wishes of the voice of the country (via its representatives).

The member schools should change their rule if that is their wish. If it isn't their wish, then so be it. JMU already knew the deal and SIGNED UP FOR IT. Reeks of entitled feels of someone that signed up for a deal and then changed their mind lol.

/and yes the rule is dumb and created as a barrier to entry. Both things can be true/

I am beginning to think your may be putting off really strong commie vibes and these wholesome liberty and freedom loving young 'Mericans can sense it. We may have to vote you off the island.

@Weezer...thoughts?
I mean, he's definitely a commie. But sometimes you have to keep your enemies close. I'm pretty sure McGill has been keeping an eye on him.

UGA's average is across 28 recruits. Ours and Bama's is across 20.

We still have quite a way to go to close that gap.

Disagree with RG3 here. This isn't a court case. It's NCAA. It's already proven they cheated. That's not a question. Whats being investigated is how many within the program knew and enabled or directed.

Vacate the wins where Stallions was on the sideline and Michigan is disqualified by default. That simple.

You CANNOT have a situation where Michigan wins or even where Michigan takes the spot of another worthy team when you know they're going to get stripped of everything inevitably.
I’m okay with michigan making the playoffs this year if it means they bump uga, bama, or texas. Excluding current and future sec teams if fine with me. 😈
