Like the Cliff Hangers PIR game - math, on a sliding scale trying to guess where the price is within a wide margin, math? It's almost like there is some type of mathematical basis that if you target a lot of Top 100 players, you're going to miss out on a higher percentage of them.
He got In trouble at Notre Dame, that's why he ended up at Marshall....believe he committed to another school also FSU I believe @butchna can tell you...Why did Randy Moss go to Marshall? Was he not that big of a prospect or something?
That was. . . interesting. . . I forgot about it, or never even knew. . .Why did Randy Moss go to Marshall? Was he not that big of a prospect or something?
Best player in West Virginia and was heavily recruited. He signed with Notre Dame but had some legal trouble in his high school senior year. Notre Dame wouldn’t accept him, and he transferred to Florida State. He got kicked out of FSU, and he then transferred to Marshall, which was 1-AA at the time. Why did Randy Moss go to Marshall? Was he not that big of a prospect or something?
I am doing a reverse jinx this week. Last time I bet AGAINST the Vols was SC +11.5. Everybody, thank me later when the Vols do itUT +9.5
I'd take it, but I don't like betting games like this one.
($ poured in on UGA & the spread, but the line moved the opposite direction)
It is not the calls, that's what the blind fools do not and will not understand because they DO NOT want to believe it, they would rather cling to their little fair play fantasy than acknowledge the truth..it is the no-calls...the monumental ridiculous amount of holding and assaulting of our players with absolute impunity that is killing us.And that only barely begins to tell the true story of how completely flagrant and constant the rigged officiating has been. It really minimizes what has happened. One has to examine the games.
Why did Randy Moss go to Marshall? Was he not that big of a prospect or something?
I am beginning to think your may be putting off really strong commie vibes and these wholesome liberty and freedom loving young 'Mericans can sense it. We may have to vote you off the island.I'm not sure if its NIL, assertiveness by coaching staff (pushing for commits), or not a wide enough net. But whatver it is its a knock, this staff has good recruiters. TN is a great program. All the tools are there. There is no excuse they gotta get it figured out.
Too often we get the visit, kids have a blast, then look for any reason not to come here, its strange.
He recruited a lot of paper tigers. He fell bass ackwards into some good players, but he recruited based on the recruiting site rankings and sheer numbers got his classes ranked higher than they otherwise would have been.Probably get the dumpster here, but Butch Jones did recruit pretty good ...but couldn't coach worth a damn in game ...
Some truth here. I do believe he did get in some legit talent that can't be denied (Barnett, Dobbs, JJ, AK, Hurd, Malone, etc) that led to very talented teams in 2015, 2016.He recruited a lot of paper tigers. He fell bass ackwards into some good players, but he recruited based on the recruiting site rankings and sheer numbers got his classes ranked higher than they otherwise would have been.
No one asked you to. Some defend it as just bad officiating. Some ridicule people for pointing the obvious bias out. Some defend it. If more would acknowledge it it becomes harder for them to hide it.I think its possible. I dont its going to change. And, me getting all
up in arms about it will change anything.
Watch the 30 for 30 'Rand University' on ESPN. It was one of the best episodes I've seenThat was. . . interesting. . . I forgot about it, or never even knew. . .
"Moss's dream was to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish,[21] but he also considered going to Ohio State, where his half-brother, Eric, had played offensive tackle. Former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz said "Randy Moss was the best high school football player I've ever seen."[22] Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden said "He was as good as Deion Sanders. Deion's my measuring stick for athletic ability, and this kid was just a bigger Deion."[23]
After originally signing a letter of intent to play college football with Notre Dame in 1995, Moss took part in a racially charged fight at his high school that left one person hospitalized.[24] On March 23, 1995, Moss had backed a friend in a hallway fight against a white student who had allegedly used racist comments towards Randy's friend.[23] Moss was initially charged with a felony for kicking the student, but it was later reduced to a misdemeanor. On August 1, 1995, Moss pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to 30 days behind bars at the South-Central Regional Jail in Charleston, West Virginia. He served 3 days in jail starting that night and would be required to serve the remaining 27 days within the following 18 months, after he completed his freshman year in college.[25] Moss was expelled from DuPont and completed his education at Cabell Alternative School.[24]
Notre Dame subsequently denied his enrollment application, but this did not stop another high-profile college football program from giving him a chance. Notre Dame officials suggested he attend Florida State due to the reputation of its coach, Bobby Bowden, for handling troubled players.[26]
Freshman (1995)edit
Because of his signed letter of intent at Notre Dame, the NCAA considered him a transfer student to Florida State,[27] so he had to redshirt the 1995 football season.[28]
Redshirt freshman season (1996)edit
In 1996, while serving his 30-day jail sentence in a work-release program from 1995, Moss tested positive for marijuana, thus violating his probation, and was dismissed from Florida State.[29] He served an additional 60 days in jail for the probation violation.[30]
Ultimately, Moss transferred to Marshall University, about an hour's drive from his home. Because Marshall was then a Division I-AA school, NCAA rules allowed him to transfer there without losing any further eligibility.[31]"
