I'm 100% behind coach Heupel. Certain staff not so much 😅.

Having said that, recruiting has to improve. Has he been handicapped? Yes. Has he improved it despite? Yes. Teams don't really stay the same for long, they either improve or regress. You have to strike while the iron is hot. Last year was awesome. I was hoping that would catapult recruiting but it doesn't seem to. Maybe this year's results have taken some of the shine off. Is recruiting good? Yes, is it competing with GA, AL good? Not yet. All JMO.
It was not going to get to that in 2 years. Also, now that investigation is over. 25 and 6 has got to be better and that is the progress needed. Now is the time to go get it. Give them that and they have 4 years and then we will know if this is the staff to get us championships. They will have a whole class of just their own.

In Majors last 4 seasons, the team finished ranked inside the top 15 all four seasons. Finished inside the top 10 twice. Suggesting he was mediocre is completely ridiculous. He made enemies with the wrong people and Fulmer, for all the good things he did at Tennessee, backstabbed Johnny.

Tennessee was in a much worse spot when Heupel took the job than when Johnny did, and the program at the end of Heup’s third season is miles ahead of where were after Majors third season. I’m as disappointed as anyone that we blew a gasket at Florida and that we were a no show at Mizzou, but we are still ahead of schedule and are bringing in a recruiting class filled with blue chip recruits.
I didn’t say he didn’t do good things, he certainly did. Just thought his quote was pretty fitting to come up with for himself.

Sub 65% win percentage over 16 years is mediocre at a place like Tennessee. Repeatedly getting your head knocked backwards so many times it became clear UT wasn’t ever winning a championship under an increasingly unstable coach. Thank god for AD Dickey and a couple other fellas or Tennessee would’ve been wishing for a Championship to this day. That was his Richt to Kirby move. Paid off. Now we’ll see if UT has to do that in a few years or not @BisonVol

Doug Dickey stabbed Johnny Majors more so than Fulmer. Majors was offered an extension he didn't sign. He was playing hardball with Dickey. Then Johnny had to go into the hospital and Fulmer was interim coach. Dickey saw the success he had as interim, and knowing someone would offer Fulmer a HC gig, he kicked Johnny in the nads and hired Fulmer himself. Fulmer was offered his dream job, so he took it. The whole mess was handled poorly, but the real backstabber was Dickey, not Fulmer. And technically, he stabbed him in the front. If Johnny had just signed that extension, things might have been very different.

25 class will tell a lot. No excuses. Another average class and we're starting to see a trend.
