I feel like you might be taking this whole thing a little personal
We should all be taking it personal.
They've confirmed that they do play favorites, and one of their (if not THE) favorites is Alabama. They've confirmed that it's just about ratings and who will make them the most money, and they're not even going to try to hide it. They know that we love the sport and we'll swallow any old drivel that they dish out.
Look at the selection show as an example. Instead of just releasing the names, they drag it out and make it dramatic, and milk every single last second and cent out of the whole thing. They treat the fans like idiots.
The networks know who will make them the most money, and the people in charge of the sport get paid for how lucrative their media deals are, so this has created a conflict of interest to protect and promote teams. We see that revenue is winning over competition. Which means that this is full entertainment, and not sport. There is a sport being played, but it is being influenced now to produce outcomes that maximize revenue for those that stand to gain from it.
Then they bent FSU over because they aren't part of the new Big Ten or new SEC. It's a farce.
Then to bring this all back to Alabama. I'm supposed to sit here and believe that a system that would go out of its way to ensure the success of that program isn't doing it all the time? Behind the scenes, in meetings that determine the future of the conference, the future of the sport. It's ridiculous. The only meetings that should matter are the teams meeting on the field. It's so not that anymore. The games themselves are maybe 10% of the formula now.
All of the things that made this sport amazing, and used to make the people in charge
enough money came organically. It sold because of stars, it sold because of drama, it sold because of controversy. Now they manufacture all of those things.
It was fun because of rivalries, it was fun because of conferences. They've ripped those things up because they found new things that will make them more money.
And I'm supposed to sit here and clap and high five other fans because they made enough money to pay the assistant AD an extra $10,000 or whatever the hell? Give me a break.
