I’m not naive to the fact that the money has always been there (under the table) but the openly, outright entitlement by every single scrub player is just absolutely absurd.

Does it really matter anymore with the portal? The 2021 CFP was the last year all 4 teams finished previous year in top 10 of recruiting.

2024 CFP teams: Michigan finished 17th, Washington 26th in 247 team rankings
2023 CFP teams: TCU finished 21st, Michigan finished 17th
2022 CFP teams: Cincinnati 42nd

Those teams don’t play an SEC schedule.

I do think headlines about us offering Seaton 7-figures (not that one specifically, but stories referencing our impressive NIL) influence these guys to try to put our side to the test.

Baron might get more by going somewhere that needs a good player in a positive of great need. Dunno what Slaughter thinks he's going to get, unless he was led that way.

It's tough for me to say a guy who spent 4 years in Knoxville with degree then transferred for 1 last season isn't a VFL. But a guy who transferred here for 1 season is.

It's all subjective but it's also all player-by-player.

This probably won't be among the more popular opinions but the majority of these kids will never see an NFL field much less a multi million dollar paycheck.Ill use Slaughter for example kids decent nothing to write home about.Id about guarantee whatever he's getting in the portal is gonna amount to way more than he will make bouncing around as an UDFA or practice squads if he even makes a team.
