Yeah… he was up and down to me. We have recruited well there.
There was friction and that wasn't going away. They chose not to give him what he wanted; he chose to go. Nobody was counting on him being back. I would have liked him to see him stay, but keeping others was more important. Wish him well.

What BOT and other insufferable losers on this site don’t understand is that most of these guys would be team cancers. They are mercenaries, plain and simple. After seeing Seaton’s commitment I want no part of that dimwit.
Dimwit?

I think people don't understand the kids background maybe.
He chose Colorado because of "primetime" who's a very celebrated African-American personality/coach.

He didn't dislike Heupel because he is white. And NO it's not the same as if Merklinger signed with Tennessee because Heupel is white. Two totally different dynamics in American race relations. You all know this. You know this...

I hate that the guy went there, and not Tennessee.

And most fans on here don't really want to hear about the "black experience" in America.
That's fine. But it is a different experience, even still today. Not like...40 years ago. My point is
He didn't dislike Heupel at all, or Tennessee. He just wanted to help a high profile black head coach, that he connected with on a much deeper level. What can you do???

Tennessee probably outbid Colorado and it didn't even matter.

We still got Warren, Anderson, and Perry.
I would caution judging this kid too harshly.

I think the coaches go after a very specific profile with a clear idea of what they need and what that's worth. When some of the big names don't fit that, UT backs off and the guy goes elsewhere. Sometimes, they just miss because a big name prefers another program. Can't win 'em all, but I agree we need to win our share.
The interesting thing to all of it is that we as common fans will continue to spout off at the mouth without any understanding of what the staff values, or who they feel the best fit for the team as a whole.

Everyone wants to clamor for elite talent replacements from the portal where many won't exist. Everyone wants to bring in guys for the sake of depth without any consideration towards the locker room impact.

I think the strategy is sound and will help us build to what we want to be. You keep the covid guys on the lines, and add TE and DB depth that affords Coach Hype's players a chance to play, and usher in an era that showcases Nico and company.

But, if saying 'retarded' is offensive, why throw the 'f word' into your post? Do you not think that word is just as offensive to people, especially church people?

If "Retarded" might offend the mentally handicapped...

Then **** would offend *****. And I've never met a **** I liked. They were a **** after all.

Anderson won’t end up at OT, tho.

It’s okay to say being 8th in recruiting in the conference and similarly ranked in portal acquisitions won’t win us anything substantial while also supporting the staff.

The thing is you usually only get to make the "pay me more or I'll leave" threat once, and he used his last year. I was disappointed that his production was only marginally better and he vanished in SEC play (1 sack against Vandy and just 4 TFLs)

All of that is true but what I don’t like is, it looks like to me he and Seion planned this for a while! He wants to go there, fine, just tell everyone upfront instead of the way it was handled!

As the time drew near and everyone speculating about where he was going and I can see Deion and Seaton sitting back laughing their tails off!

Well if 8th in the SEC in recruiting keeps us in the top 15 nationally then I'd probably disagree that we won't win anything substantial.

BUT I will say if the goal is to always be in the mix for the CFP then we'll need to see recruiting pushing to be in the top 6 in conference.

That’s all I’m trying to say. I’m fine with where we’re at. But we’re kidding ourselves if we think we’re upper echelon with where we’re at. It has to get better if titles are the goal, but I’m not saying we’re in a bad spot. Both can be true.

He was dinged up some. And I'm pretty sure he could have gotten more elsewhere last year, since one school aggressively came after him, but he's a Tennessee kid and he stayed. Still, it was probably the right move this year.

I feel like they're afraid to take the risk on big talent at times. But we need big talent if we're ever going to truly compete for championships again.

I think some folks are still waiting to see it post Hooker, offense took a bit step back with Milton...but we also had a new OC. If Nico's first year starting reignites the offense I think the recruiting will be stronger next class than this one.

This won't go over well with the "why do we have to talk about race" fragilites.

I don't always care for Deion's style, but to act like representation doesn't matter to marginalized groups is tone deaf at best.
