You keep saying 6 DBs. You're conveniently ignoring the fact that Burrell and Turnage both walked at Sr. Day and weren't expected back to begin with.

That leaves, D.Slaughter, McDonald, Lutrell and Rucker. 2 of which never saw the field, and were potentially recruited over. And 2 others, by most accounts are only playing as placeholders until the younger guys are ready.

I'm yet to see someone leave that can't be replaced. This seems more flawed than your Tony V. to LSU meltdown.

If any of those 6 players started next season those same people would be b*tching by week 2(me included)

I much prefer to use more clinical terms, that describe a specific health condition. Because that is what it is.

I wouldn’t call it a meltdown. I just don’t think they have some grand scheme and forcing them all out was part of it. We don’t have any DB’s on the board to replace any of those guys. Depth is depth. I’m sure they’d rather have bad players than no players.

We've seen insane criticism of our secondary for a year and now, people are complaining that many of the veteran DB's are leaving. You truly can't please everyone.

Find out how much he can get and how he'll fit in-- and also probably to enjoy the visits. He already had the week mapped out and I think he's still planning on adding UCLA, which will give him a day or two in LA. The UT visit was good-- he just didn't shut it down.

The expectation was for GJL to test the pros but maybe we find a way to keep him around with some of these departures.

We still have 9 scholarship DBs on the roster and 4 incoming recruits (3 4-stars)

I’d imagine that most portal players, especially from a place like ND, won’t be WOWED on a visit and commit like a traditional recruit because they’ve been around for a few years. Probably take a more measured approach…

I'd do the same thing he's doing. Currently in the process of setting up interviews across the South for my post-graduate career. Darn right I'm attending all of them before I make a decision.

We will fill those spots, but like LAVOL said, there are a lot of determining factors at play here.

The governing body is going to have to do something in the near future or college athletics is going to consume itself. Teams are reaching out to kids mid-season offering them this and that. Some kids have checked out way before end of season knowing they already have a deal in place.

I, for one, DO NOT like it done this way. I’m all in for NIL, but this is going to get crazier in the next few years if there isn’t limits etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure why there was some expectation that he would commit while in Knoxville. My understanding is the West Coast trip was already set up, along with Oklahoma.

Not to sound chicken little but the current tract is headed to severely harm the future kids. College football will not exist in the opportunity heavy format and the amount of $$ kids get will be substantially lower because it'll turn to minor league with little to no affiliation to the emotional connection people have/had. Minor league baseball pay is crap.
