How much can the school ask fans to donate to NIL though. If it's supposed to be a separate thing then the schools can't really get involved with asking for donations.
True. And I honestly don’t know the rules. All I know is I have never been asked for NIL but I have the other areas. And most I know it’s the same too.

Also, the rich don’t want to contribute to a fund that’s non deductible. That’s a big loss.

I agree with that last part, need to figure out how to make it tax deductible.

I know that some are questioning the portal haul, but the staff is getting who they're going after. Ole Miss picked up transfers that UT wouldn't pay to keep, and they'll likely sign a few more that UT wouldn't pay to land. Kiffin is going all-in on next year.

As he should. He has a manageable schedule and 12 teams make the playoff. 10-2 in the SEC for sure gets you in. 9-3 has you in the mix.

I think we’ll see this going forward in some years that various programs are more aggressive in the portal due to what they have the following season.

I disagree. Big donors are being asked for renovations and future projects. Not NIL. NIL is being pushed more to fans and the like. I only get asked about season tickets, upgrading those, and funds to certain parts of the school.
Vol Club is not the only money going towards NIL, just the fan's part. It is true that a lot of big money (Alumni) donations go to facilities and the like but investing in the players motivates another segment of big money (used to be illegal).

Actually, we're pretty much grabbing what we're going after. Landing Nolan is all about being the highest bidder-- and actually wanting to get involved with that.
Do you not think we could have done a better job of:

Cashing in on 11 Wins/3 consecutive bowls/embarrasing Clemson in national TV: In HS/Xfer ranks?

Having a more established marketing plan - jointly - between Spyre and UTAD?

Go after, and win signatures for more top 50 players, lieu of coming in (LOVE TN, LOVE COACHES, ATMOSPHERE, COULD SEE MYSELF...) constantly being second place is first loser.

I
The school can not be involved with the collective or it comes under the jurisdiction of Title IX. There are a lot of people flappin' their gums about things that they don't have a clue about. Proof is in the results. We are keeping the players we want, players are coming back, and we getting the players we want. Coaches don't want Nolan or they would have pursued him, it's not because we didn't throw a bag at him. This staff considers need and fit only.
wasn’t meaning ran by the school
I said someone like Danny white who’s aggressive and has vision
Yes I agree it’s keeping players we want and I haven’t complained one bit about the portal ****, I have actually defended it
I’m flapping my gums as you would say about its vision, leadership and aggression.
Spyre was the blueprint for all college nils but they took that plan and grew it where as we seem to be lacking imo
That’s where I say changes need to be made

Pathetic for the size of our fanbase--- we have basically the same as KY, AU, and ARK... we spent all our money on NICO and apparently it's not that we don't want to overpay, we just don't have the money period...therefore we stay in the bargain basement isle.

SURELY this isn't accurate right!? IF so, then we are in trouble, but I'd tend to believe the true amounts are not available to the public...
We have more money than UK, AU, and ARK. We have more potentially than Alabama, they have large national following. Not as much as Georgia. Collectives are only a part of NIL. Look at the wealth in each state.

Those numbers are meaningless, anyway. Really bad methodology used by the NCAA to come up with them.

Do you see that focus changing within the next 5 years?

I’m not upset because I believe Danny White is setting things up for sustained success and growth. It will be easier to ask large donors for “smaller” NIL in 3-4 years after the facility upgrades are already paid for instead of the other way around.
No, not really. UT has deferred projects and lags behind in capital improvements, and there are many multi-phase projects spread out longer-term. Building has gotten more expensive, and expediting projects to play catch-up is a priority. Coaches and players are asking for more amenities and facilities upgrades, and being competitive and keeping them happy is part of the plan, too. So donors are being tapped.

Donor dollars go into other university projects, as well, including academic buildings. These buckets empty as fast as they can be filled.

My brother eats, sleeps, breathes the NBA for some reason. He told me to do it, so I did. Smart people would’ve put $5 on that, but I’m not smart, lol in all seriousness I took some winnings and put it in that bet.
Yeah I probably would’ve thrown 20 on it if I had known before I usually don’t bet over 20

not telling you to do this, but I’m thinking about a lotto parlay, Donovan Mitchell triple double since Garland is out.
= more opportunities for assist, had 13 last game. Just needs to get them rebounds.

That makes sense.

Just gonna trust (because the TN Administration has earned it to this point IMO) that those in charge know what they’re doing and are creating an atmosphere of sustained success that will win championships.

Collectives are looking at different stream of revenue than the traditional big money donors.

That's the question, right? They're executing their strategy, but have they set the right strategy?

It's not unlike the player execution strategy. Playing Milton and sitting Nico was the strategy-- and continues to be. Time will tell if it's the right one-- just like time will tell how the recruiting strategy, or the staff retention strategy, pays off.

Need to have <-- how we have targeted the guys we picked up. How we have treated guys that we got to stay.
Nice to have <-- how we have viewed some guys we've talked to, how we treated some guys that ended up leaving.
MUST HAVE <-- how Ole Miss sees every big name in the portal, I don't think our staff/collective have seen anyone in the portal that they would classify as this. Maybe Staes. How we have treated some of the guys that we got to stay.

Of course they are executing their plan when they categorize players differently than we do. Their urgency is guiding their decisions, and their decisions are impacting the market. So be it. Like I said before, we'll have to wait to see who was right.

And even if it does work out for Ole Miss, it doesn't mean that our approach was wrong either.
