They just can't win. They get roasted on Twitter and VN with rumors that the money isn't all going toward player deals. They post that 90% goes to players and 10% goes to setting up events, and they get complaints are that not enough goes to advertising.

And easy fix that we can affect here on VN would include:

Stop bashing them until given proof that they are misappriopriating money.
Here on VN. You know about it. Join.
Yeah that’s tough. The people spreading or subscribing to unfounded rumors are a problem. Don’t know how you get around that. The internet is the internet.

If they published annual cash flow statements documenting the use of funds, that would solve any problems that anyone has in regards to transparency and ensuring proper use of funds, but is that reasonable? Would you expect a corporation to do that simply for that reason. I would suggest those non trusting people just save us all the headache and don’t donate.

The complaints about not enough going to advertising, I would assume is from contributing members. If you are commenting on that and aren’t donating, stfu.

Personally having worked with non profits and similar organizations, I have no problem with spending on overhead and advertising so long as it is not an egregious amount, is documented transparently what percentage of funds are spent on it, and most importantly: profitable and increasing the bottom line of funds to be appropriated to the athletes.

I disagree. Big donors are being asked for renovations and future projects. Not NIL. NIL is being pushed more to fans and the like. I only get asked about season tickets, upgrading those, and funds to certain parts of the school.
How much can the school ask fans to donate to NIL though. If it's supposed to be a separate thing then the schools can't really get involved with asking for donations.

Well it’s also a grey area because the university is separate from spyre so of course they can’t ask you for money for NIL. And they probably aren’t legally allowed to share your info with Spyre. If you are a big donor and have funds to donate to NIL above and beyond the vol club membership, I would suggest reaching out to vol club and spyre directly to coordinate such a donation.

Yeah, I'm sure he's got a pitch to sell-- and it's not a bad one for rent-a-year guys who're looking for a paycheck while staying in the SEC. It's a game with everyone moving the pieces.
It's smart of him though, if he can win 10 games at OM again, their schedule is soft. I think a big job comes calling. It wouldn't surprise me to see Kiffin jump to Gainsville after Napier is canned.

My thing with looking at stars...... There have only been 2 schools in the last 15 years or so to play for a natty that haven't had a 50% blue chip ratio. Not every 3* sucks, not every 5* will hit, but the more 5* talent you accumulated thereafter success you will have. There's a reason teams who consistently recruit in the top 10 are playing for championships.
I'm only going to say this once more. Stars are a product of who is offering or interested in a player not talent evaluation. A perfect example is the unrated kid Tennessee offered and overnight he's a three star. Alabama offers him and whala he's a four star.
Players recruited by top tier programs are 4 or 5s. Top tier programs win championships. Look at the offer sheet, that's what Rivals does.

Yep. Very expensive renos in the pipeline and trying to expedite all that is a primary focus. And has been.

Pathetic for the size of our fanbase--- we have basically the same as KY, AU, and ARK... we spent all our money on NICO and apparently it's not that we don't want to overpay, we just don't have the money period...therefore we stay in the bargain basement isle.

SURELY this isn't accurate right!? IF so, then we are in trouble, but I'd tend to believe the true amounts are not available to the public...

I think I speak for most fans when I say I'd rather win championships in an old building.

My little “warm” take……..

Syracuse will make the playoffs next year.
No UNC, Clemson, or FSU on their schedule……and they are getting serious players.

Is Florida really a better job now that Ole Miss has shown a willingness to pay?
Ole Miss where he has to dip into all the neighboring states, which are probably the toughest to recruit, or Florida where he can get his pick of 20+ four stars. The NIL is prob a **** ton better there as well, and they would be more willing to spew out money if they had a proven HC like Kiffin.

He wouldn’t be better than Urban, but he’d definitely be better than any other of the chicken heads they’ve had.

He could promote it on his own, he should use his marketing prowess to mount his own campaign. Unless he's looking for some of that 10%.
I've already done some of that on social media. The dollar amounts I listed have to do with advertising costs to FB that would be directly spent from the Volunteer Club's FB advertising account and not to me...but thanks for your concern. I really don't see how you got that I was after that 10% from my post unless you suck at reading comprehension.

@OGbabyaviVol I appreciate the mention but I'd rather leave it alone because of responses like this. I'm not after anything but there's always going to be folks that make sure that no good deed goes unpunished.

Hes not going to recruit well enough at OM to actually challenge the big 3, hopefully the Vols make that 4.
Florida recruits itself, 15 minutes in any direction and Florida has a ton of 4 and 5 star kids.

My guess is you're correct. He's looking to parlay it into something he wants more. Not sure it's Florida-- but it's something else.

That schedule is horrendous. This could happen in the expanded playoff. Especially if they win 10-11.

Do you see that focus changing within the next 5 years?

I’m not upset because I believe Danny White is setting things up for sustained success and growth. It will be easier to ask large donors for “smaller” NIL in 3-4 years after the facility upgrades are already paid for instead of the other way around.
