For the crowd that thinks the key to the offense is Golesh, how do y'all explain Heupel having top 5 offenses (in terms of ppg, ypp, and sos-adjusted efficiency) in 2018/2019 at UCF before Golesh got there? I think there can be a middle ground that acknowledges losing Golesh hurts because losing good personnel always hurts, but Heupel is still the driving force of the offense and the history bears that out.

Evan Stewart is supposedly visiting in January last I heard. If they're using a visit on him, they must have interest. Visits are valuable capital in recruiting.
VERY happy to hear this... as we saw this season-- "we are loaded at WR, so we should be fine".... down goes Bru-- then Keyton, Nimrod, and Thornton get the droppsy's, and then goes down Thornton....

You can never have too many elite WR's in the house.

Losing Golesh hurt, but I don’t think Golesh was the key to Heupel’s success. I think Heupel trusted Golesh more than Hazle (sp) and therefore probably listened to his analysis more closely, but overall Heupel makes the final decisions on the offense, pre- and post-Golesh, making it 100% his offense.

Heup stated that he called the plays at UCF anyways even when Golesh was there.

Alabama had 4 in Smith, Ruggs, Jeudy, and Waddle and LSU had 3 in Jefferson, Chase, and Marshall. Both in 2019.

Both offenses were nearly unstoppable and all 7 of those receivers got drafted high.

Absolutely on point.

What does seeing him early mean? Are we running a 2 QB system or something?

Yes - both in the backfield at same time with some RBs back there too

Highly complex system where they scramble around, handing the ball off to each other and pitching it back and forth before they chuck it the end zone.

Iowa won’t know what’s happening and neither will we!

I would be very surprised if the SEC would want the BIG 10 in their recruiting territory. That would be a huge mistake. Plus, I believe this would send Clemson and Miami to the BIG also. You never allow another franchise repping the same brand to come close to your territory. Screw Florida and South Carolina.

Florida St is a natural fit too. Their fanbase is more passionate and loyal than Florida. It makes zero sense to allow FSU and potentially Clemson to escape to the BIG, because Florida and SC doesn’t like it.

We allowed Texas into the conference and we already had the Texas market, so it obviously wasn’t just TV dollars as a factor anymore. They were admitted, because of branding. Same with Oklahoma. FSU and Clemson isn’t on Texas’ level, but they’re both big brands in college athletics and in the SEC’s backyard.

I mean, there was definitely a bigger difference than that this year. I don’t care what the analytics say.

Hooker didn’t have to receive permission or look to the sideline as much as Milton. He was also given control in certain situations to change plays. Milton wasn’t afforded that same ability. Which slowed play down.
I will maintain that I think Milton needed to see it open in the middle of the field vs Hooker who would start to throw before guys got out of their breaks, which seems to be what Heupel is looking for. My hope is Nico becomes a better version of Hendon.

Thornton hitting the portal would not be smart on his part coming off a lackluster season and injury unless he's prepared to take a step or two down to a team like Bowling Green, Ga St., etc...
I think if he does it will be in the spring after he sees the lay of the new landscape. I don't know that he will for sure go, just a hunch.

That first yr they eased Golesh into it and didn’t trust him fully until 2022 season. He’s figured it all the way out now but he’s not the key I agree.

yeah, i'm not sure how much i believe this "rejected" stuff.

it's not about TV markets anymore, streaming and internet access has made that almost irrelevant. it's about eyeballs. who wants to watch FSU vs any current SEC team?

everyone. that's who.

the Big already has what, 18 programs? we're at 16 now. geography doesn't matter....i think we'd take FSU, UNC, Clemson and UVA....if it makes sense to do so and it enhances our current TV deal.

let's put it this way....if we "reject" FSU, it has nothing to do with FSU and everything to do with the fact we couldn't get more $$$$ out of Disney....that's it.

Random thoughts:
- With all these players leaving, who is going to play in our secondary for the bowl game?
- With a stacked receiver room, will some become disgruntled about not getting enough playing time?
Juedy-Lally, Charles, Conyer, Gibson, Matthews, Whitehead, Thomas, Harrison, Slaughter, Brooks, Wright, Bandy, Ganaway,

See what these guys have in live action.

I said it before, but he's a physical guy, great blocker and possession type, but we need big play dudes. I'd trade McCoy straight up for Stewart. That's the kind of guy we need in this offense. Matthews and Staley might be one of those and are great athletes, are they more like Bru or are they the type of players who can really stretch/stress a defense like Hyatt? Solid recruiting class, but I don't see the game changers this offense needs.
Don't underestimate the need for a bull of a possession and blocking receiver in this offense. When we rely so much on screens, a hard nosed blocker, and a road grading receiver like Bru is invaluable. And as often as we throw up 50/50 deep balls, putting us behind the chains, we need that guy that can consistently get us 6-8-12 yards on the perimeter.

An argument could be made by Floridians that Florida State is a better fit than Florida. Both good academic schools but Florida is in the ACC hemisphere. Also, Gainesville has become the San Francisco of the gulf coast with their politics.
