I see nobody on that list, besides Kirby and maybe Ryan Day (neither of which would leave their current situation for Bama IMO) that ticks anymore boxes than Lane does. All very good coaches, but none are in a more elite group than Lane in today’s market.

You could be right…but other than 2 or 3 “big” names on that list I see a Bama fan uprising if they hired some of those guys.

You're crazy if you don't think Bama fans would take Dabo or Harbaugh in a heartbeat if Saban retired, today. I like Kiffin, but he isn't in their league. He's not an embarrassing alternative, either, but he's not in their tier. None of those guys on that initial list have ever failed at any stop, either, the way Kiffin did on his biggest stage at USC. That has to be a concern for Bama regardless of what he's done at Ole Miss.

I do hope our fans set realistic expectations for Nico in this game. Feels unlikely though. It’s his first start and it’s against a true Top 5 defense. It’s going to be tough sledding due to opt outs and injuries as well. If he doesn’t throw for 250+ I hope our fans don’t immediately turn on him as a bust.

No matter what he does, there will be people on here who talk more about what he didn't do than what he did.

There are plenty here who will still spend $1 million of somebody else's money to get him because he is clearly a must have.

Harbaugh maybe (but he’ll go back to the NFL imo). Dabo is old news and not built for the NIL era.

Kiffin failed once, while under NCAA sanctions. He’s been an unmitigated success since. Slice may be right, that the Boosters would say no. But I’ve heard other folks say he’d be at the top of their list.

Sorry about this discussion. I’ll drop it…it’s speculation anyway. And it seems to be upsetting the ruling class.
