Those drama student can go get a part time job, actual student athletes do not have that luxuryThose players are not employees any more than band members, cheerleaders, academic scholars, etc are. Scholarships are offered to potential students that excel in an area, whether it be the arts, the sciences, or athletics. Just because I pay to go watch a play at Clarence Brown Theatre doesn’t make those drama students employees of the university.
But none of those other areas are prohibited from making money off their name, image, and likeness or any other method of making money. Band members can join the local symphony for pay, as an example. That's the problem. Nobody said universities are obligated to pay football players. The point being made is that it's illegal to forbid football players from making money literally anywhere while they're on scholarship. Those players are not employees any more than band members, cheerleaders, academic scholars, etc are. Boss!Nico Iamaleava
Burnin' hot like lava
Hawkeyes had a deacon
Vols D left that engine leakin'
Iowa had no answer
For the Dylan dancer
Watching Cam's a delight
His future oh so bright
James Pearce is everywhere
Straight up Hawkeye nightmare
Vols tallied five and thirty
Iowa ain't purty
They got a big zero
No fans could cheer-o
Special thanks to Joe
To the NFL you go
Heupel and his number 8
'24 will be so great
So once again, I'm downright giddy
It don't matter, Vols by Fiddy
Employment rules and regulations are the same for both the regular academic year and the summer semester. Essentially, a student-athlete may be employed as long as they notify the Compliance Office. A student-athlete cannot be hired based on their athletic abilities or reputation in any way.No, it's against ncaa rules. They don't want boosters paying them $1000 an hour for a part time job.
