Folks with opinions relying on memory...He had a very bad first game. 5/179 35.8 average. After that, he was pretty good. He had one game where he averaged 39.5 on two kicks and another where he averaged 39.7 on 3. All the rest were 40 or better. Again, a lot is what you seem to remember but not what the stats show.
This team is as deep with interchangeable pieces as any I have seen at Tennessee going back to the late 70’s. That’s not to say that other prior teams may have had one or two elite players that are better than our best this year. The fact that we are so deep with interchangeable quality players allows us to have one or two player disappear for a game or two because one or two of these other interchangeable players will step up to fill the void for those games without suffering a void for team.I think the rub many have, including myself to a certain degree is that year after year, we see a team with a ton of talent that struggles whether it be mentally or physically to play consistent high end basketball week to week. Yes you can argue that with most teams, but we seem to play hot and cold way too often and to the extreme over the past three years. We are looking good so far this season with the addition of DK, but still many players will show up one game and disappear the very next game. I think folks are just looking for consistent play from the top 5-7 players on the roster due to their experience at this point... We see this and they execute, and we can beat anyone in the country.
Well represented!
What stands out to me in this pic is that these are kids. WE should take note of that when criticizing recruits or potential recruits.
Is easy to get so caught up in it that you forget that simple fact. GBO!
Yep, I think I'll trust the handling of QBs with CJH, not VN posters.I actually think not starting Nico or playing him too soon is WHY he looked so solid against Iowa. Had he gotten to play with the best 5 OL he would have looked even better.
Injuries upfront & playing to our strengths (running the ball) we game planned extremely well. I expected good things from the Defense but honestly they played better than my expectations, maybe Iowa is really just that bad but I felt like we looked very sharp and fast, especially in the secondary.
Tim Banks is not a good defensive coordinator.
He's here because Danny White imposed a diversity requirement, because Rodney Garner is his DL coach who's unit carries the entire defense, and because Josh Heupel seems to have major resistance to moving on from bad coaches.
Beyond just Banks, evidenced by Randy Shannon and Willie Martinez.
Or people rely on stats without actually using their eyes....watch the punts, stats aren't everything. However if you want stats....Folks with opinions relying on memory...
...seem to often have bad memory...
