Not at all and I've never wanted that. I'm simply thinking contracts between schools and players are the final answer to all of this mess.

Schools want more control over players, like they used to have. Given the insanity of the current status, it's quite understandable. Players currently have far more freedom of movement than any players or coaches in any sport and it's chaotic well beyond what any pro league would even allow.

Players should also be properly compensated and have a sensible amount of freedom, similar to their own coaches.

When given a variety of competing interests, contractual agreements tend to be the final answer.

Student Athletes are not employees or independent contractors of the University. Stay away from both classifications - call them 1099 independent contractors and you open yourself up to the IRS reclassifying them as employees. As full-time employees, they will be entitled to all the protections and benefits other full-time employees of the school are receiving.

Student Athletes are students who receive a scholarship based on their particular skillset. NIL gives those student athletes the opportunity to contract for endorsements, etc with those outside entities as independent contractors.

An independent contractor determines the price for services, hours to be worked, duration of the contract as part of negotiations. If the entity utilizing the individual contractor sets hours, pay, etc. they are getting very close to what is considered an employee.

Here’s a chart that explains the requirements by the IRS to be considered and Independent Contractor.

Been there and done that.... about 15 years ago, @5 AM on Alcoa Hwy, 25 degrees, and the tire is shredded.... the phone call I got at 4:30 that morning "I think I have a flat".

Pounds is at Ole Miss and was scheduled to come to UT today. He moved his visit back. Kiffin is trying to get him to spend the entire weekend at Ole Miss and is no doubt pressuring him to go ahead and publicly commit. UT always had a steep hill to climb on this one.

Still, Vols are likely to have two commits coming out of the weekend and will push hard for Heard.

We really need at least one of Pounds or Heard. Hope we can talk Pounds into visiting before he does something dumb like committing to OM.
