The strategy is to avoid getting in this position, but we're in it and working our way out isn't as simple as any of us would like it to be.

So much wrong in this post. You are usually posting well but this team has more holes than just on the OL to get to Atlanta. Mays only good one on the OL but Spraggs and Campbell are not good? Nico is good but he doesn't alone get a team this young on D and still questionable depth across a team with what should be a junior class with only 4 guys I think still on the team from it. We will have to catch lighting in a bottle to get to Atlanta and we may have a shot but this program needs at least a couple of years to be on that level and be more than a one year flash. I am for building it than a one year Lane run. Be thankful for 22, hopeful for 24 and 25 and expecting for 26 forward. You never know, we may get Nico for 3 more years just like that Manning kid.

I didn't say OL was our only hole. My post was just about OL though. I agree we have a lot of holes, especially on D.

Would Campbell or Spraggins start on Bama or UGA? That's my point. That means they're not championship caliber players who can get us to Atlanta. They're not bad, but we need better to get to ATL. That doesn't mean better OL guarantee it, but I wasn't posting about everything that's holding us back from a championship, just the OL.

The whole post was about OL play. At least pretend like you're not just trying to be contrary.

It applies. Quit PRETENDing it doesn’t. If anything, quarterback is much more difficult to adjust and acclimate than OL. And Nico being more talented didn’t make him READY one in his first season. No telling the bounds the more talented OL in every successive class will cross faster than their predecessors. Hard and fast rules are slippery lil buggers.

I don’t know the answer to your question, but Bama’s OL wasn’t good. In fact, Bama started a true freshman at LT.

I don’t get the huge fuss. There is still a long way to go before the start of the season, and we have coaches who have proven they can coach offense.

I will concede that as fact, but as I have stated in several posts today, our coaches are juggling the roster better than most programs. They are not going to overpay or bring in a player that could undermine their culture just to satisfy recruiting expectations from the fans. They know what they have and what they want and what they NEED. If they feel they NEED more OL then they will find the right ones. It may not be the ones VN wants, but we will have a good offense to put on the field come August 31.

I mean, they obviously feel we need more OL since they tried to bring in 3 this weekend, and we supposedly pursued Farmer a few weeks ago. They have targeted OL. They just haven't been able to get any commits. So we know they haven't gotten their first choices. That doesn't mean things won't still work out, but there's nothing wrong with acknowledging the reality of the situation. I know many VNers hate the word reality/realist, but we've clearly pursued OL in the portal and whiffed on our initial targets.

Bama's OL was crookedly advanced by rigged officiating. They couldn't block our or TAMU's front without holding every down in the second half with no calls. I quit watching Bama after that. It wasn't really football. More like WWE. But that was already three losses earned by midseason.

This holding with impunity was also how Bama's QB was said to improve. The networks went all in calling this racketeering "a great coaching job" by Saban, football's biggest crook. Pathetic.

Very true. Problem is most are prior leftover OL and we haven’t done a good job evaluating/recruiting players to take over. Hence portal players being the other starters.

Development is great. E is a great OL coach. He is struggling at evaluating high school talent. I think this class is his first true good OL class and spent more time evaluating. But they will need time.

Premature take. ‘21 class doesn’t count because staff just showed up. ‘22 class was recruited under threat of sanctions. Can’t knock staff for that year. ‘23 class were freshman this season and reports have been that Sham, Lang, and bussell all looked good for freshman. ‘24 class looks great. So where’s the problem with the high school evals?

Genuinely lost at what some want out of an OL coach

My only concern with Elarbee is we've yet to see any of the guys he's recruited develop. I think we need to see that this coming season. Guys like Sham and Lang should be ready to at least get more backup reps and experience because they should be starters going into '25.

I agree but he could be getting portal regret and may adjust his attitude. I can't stand him and hope we can just find a way to fill the needs and have him kick rocks. Think it will be an on going problem but was asking LA VOL just to see what he was thinking.
