Organic development is preferred IMO. I get the Lane, Davis, Lampley concern and I share it. Clearly the 22 O-line class is destined for scout team duty (hate that Nichols got fat and stopped competing), but the 23 class has some promise. They're in the building now. Will be there in spring. Bring 'em in-feed 'em, grow 'em, teach 'em. I'm counting on Sham, Lang, and Bussell to contribute this season. If they can piece together a decent O-line with walk-ons who had been with the program for years like they did this season, then I expect CGE can put a better product on the field with better raw talent organically. Then spend the money to retain kids that can play (Campbell, Mayes, Spraggs) and won't be malcontents (Nichols and Mincey, respectively).
But if 23 class doesn't produce then yep, we are in big trouble.
Please post more.

Lots of OL will be in the portal after spring practice............I'll worry later on if necessary.
While true, wouldn't many of those guys be ones that weren't winning starting spots at their current program? Not all, but moreso than winter transfers if I had to guess.

Maybe one of those fall from a top program... but spring transfers seem more questionable, overall. Jmo

back and forth and all the reasons/excuses---

Either way there are too many Olinemen and DB's in the portal, and have been in the portal since it opened for us not to be able to get who we want... Yeah, Yeah, gotta watch how much we pay so we don't hurt the current roster's feelings... crazy that it seems other schools and staffs aren't as concerned with this and getting it done.

Next season if Nico gets blown up or we get a few injuries on the Oline, no excuses for Heup, the blame is 100% on him. He's the head coach, can't have it both ways... IMO if they don't get at least 1-2 linemen, we're going to be skating on thin ice like this season. SMH.

Are we making up narratives again? Lol

Mike Tomlin led a team to the playoffs that was quarterbacked by Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph.

Impressive.
This years’ Steelers team may be the worst team in NFL history to make the playoffs. I’m not talking about their record. I’m talking about their quality of play over the season.

Premature take. ‘21 class doesn’t count because staff just showed up. ‘22 class was recruited under threat of sanctions. Can’t knock staff for that year. ‘23 class were freshman this season and reports have been that Sham, Lang, and bussell all looked good for freshman. ‘24 class looks great. So where’s the problem with the high school evals?

Agree…..but some good players get beat out. Hopefully Vols get one or two

Until then…..I ain’t gonna fret none😁

No. Watch the Titans and followed the Jones Cup golf tournament…..
Just flipped over to the Golf Channel to finish up. It appears it may take 30-under to win it. Kirk currently leads by one at 27-under par through twelve holes. Since it’s in Hawaii, this tournament finishes really late in the day (evening).

Most of the starters will be back by spring ball and the younger guys will step up and take over in the positions where people vacated. People act like nobody will improve from one year to the next when the first HS guys that this staff brought in are just now heading into their 3rd year when they would really be expected to contribute. Let's all settle down and let the staff that produces top offenses produce top offenses.
If they are so certain about the young guys taking over then why are they targeting three OL? Fact is we need starters and more depth. Some reason that hurts feelings.
