With all the nutrition and technology players will never again look like the beast of back in the day . Those guys were grown ass men . I show my son and his friends videos of old teams from across different years and teams in the NCAA and they don't understand how they looked like they did . Would love to see a coach build his team with old school methods and see how they play with this generations football .
you mean full tilt roids no brakes?

What's up with the way this dude says "Vols?"
He’s calling us the “Voles.”

The Catch
Losing 27-21 to Tom Landry’s Dallas Cowboys, the 49ers faced a 3rd and 3 from the Dallas 6. Quarterback Joe Montana rolled back to his right, looking for receivers. Under pressure from three Cowboys while running out of room on the sideline, Montana double-clutched and then – off of one foot – lofted a pass deep into the end zone, intended for receiver Dwight Clark. To many, the ball appeared to be sailing out of bounds. Instead, the 6-foot-4 Clark leapt up and caught the ball inbounds for a 28-27 victory. Two weekends later, the 49ers won their first Super Bowl – the first of five titles during a late 20th century dynasty. "The Catch,” which had capped an 89-yard drive, established Montana’s reputation as a cool, clutch performer and was the defining moment of Clark’s career.

Sorry bud!

"Cool story bro" time.............

Too Tall is from my hometown and friends with the family. He, DD Lewis, Tex Schramm, and few other Cowboys always purchased their cars from my dads best friend who owned a local dealership in Jackson. ALL of Jackson was full of Cowboys fans.....minus one little toe-headed kid who became a Steeler fan at the ripe 'ole age of 4.......just to piss everyone off. ;)

Absolutely. The path is before us if we are willing to “make a few moves”.
Yep, but still, I don't think it's "willingness". I think it's more reservation on the part of the staff. By that, I mean Heupel is being very careful about "fit" and "cost" not to mention the impact on our recruited youth. I've accepted that we won't do what Ole Miss and Kiffin have done. He's not going to throw a flaming bag of poo into the locker room for one season. I think he's committed to the kids he's recruited. He'll take obvious holes that are due to talent deficiencies or immaturity and fix those with a reasonably priced guy who "fits". He's not going to go wild after a merc like Judkins to the possible detriment of the culture. He'll roll with Sampson and Seldon first. Might not please a lot of folks, but I support his approach. It's the best thing for us now and for our future. Stability is key.

So apparently, RSVP'ing back to a wedding invite 'maybe next time' isn't the correct response.
My wife lost her best friend from high school, because when she was invited to the sister’s wedding, she said she couldn’t go. But then she remarked, ”But don’t worry, I’ll make your next one!” Needless to say, the family was not happy with that response…

That was the game that began the Danny White can't get us over the hump era..
If I'm correct he led the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game the next season only to get defeated by the Commanders (Redskins) which led to their first Super Bowl Victory over the Dolphins..

Forgot lost to Eagles the previous year as well in NFC Championship game ..

It's literally the year to go all in.

Bout darned time we got a stinkin' break with the schedule. Had a friend who is a UGA fan. He was complaining about their "tough" schedule next season because they have bama during the regular season to go with Auburn and Florida. Seems like we're among the top 5-10 every...single....year. Really looking forward to those years where we get someone other than uf, bama and uga. Ready for a break from those teams.

I'm more concerned with how many top 25 teams we play.

This doesn't seem like the kind of staff that does that. When you read/hear interviews with the players, they consistently speak about being told the truth, everyone has the same chance, and you have to earn your spot with nothing guaranteed.

I agree. That is why we are able to retain so well in the modern NIL/transfer portal age.

Posters wanting to give into player demands for guaranteed starting/playing time (who knows if those rumors are even true) instead of merit based playing time are letting their short-term desperation override long-term viability of the program.

Luckily, it seems Heupel doesn't do that. Barnes is notoriously merit-based on playing time down to the most recent practice. Vitello let Burns walk instead of guaranteeing that he wouldn't ever put him in the bullpen if struggling again.

For those that need it.

January 10, 2024: Be still and know that I am God. Great and precious promises are yours if you will only dare to believe. The spiritual principles are simple, but applying them to life situations can be complex. Keep your vision clear and your motives pure as you focus on Me, says the Lord. The flesh always wants to muddy the spiritual water. Psalm 16:8 I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

A God story in it's own right tbh. They are from a pastors wife in some small church out west. I worked with a Catholic hospital a few years back and half their business office was reading these. I am not Catholic, neither is this pastor's wife, but what she writes helped me through some rough moments so I keep sharing them like someone did with me.

My favorite! Thank you.
