Today I learned that Alabama fans also can’t spell Kiffin. They also seem half-ready to Schiano Kalen DeBoer if it happens lol.

They would be stupid to not like DeBoer. He’s a hell of a coach and an even more likable guy that has paid his dues.

Yeah...but 2 losses in true road games and 6 wins in neutral court games I'm sure helps (as does the win over us). I'm kind of surprised the loss to Southern at home didn't screw with it more.

Per the SRS they're 4-1 against their top 14 matchups this season in the teams they've faced and the loss was at South Carolina. Bama/Auburn are the only 2 teams with higher SRS ratings than us they have left to play.

SOS usually doesn't care about who played...but considering Tolu missed the first 12 games of the year I think they could actually be a high seed come March.
Tolu being out is why I didn't mention the losses, I know in the past the basketball committee has been forgiving about losses without a key player.

All of this circles back to the original point though, that loss probably kills our chances to win the SEC. I went back and looked since Barnes has been here only twice has a team with 5 losses won the conference typically it is 3 or 4 with a couple of teams at 2. Assuming we split the UK games(it's hard to win at corrupt), and we split the Bama or TAMU games..... that's not leaving a lot of room for error.

doesnt even matter how good the new coach is......filling those shoes is not possible.
Correct. Saban lost 29 games in 17 years, and 6 of those were the first year — so in the last 16 years, he lost 23 games total. 14 conference losses in 16 seasons! 🤮

Nobody can live up to that, especially now that UT is going to be competitive, expanded conference schedule, etc.

Even if they can find a guy who can go 10-2 or 9-3 most years, (a) that is a huge step down from what that fanbase is used to, and (b) they lose the mystique they have had and just become one of the top handful of teams in the SEC (which is still a strong brand, etc., but not the inevitable powerhouse they have been).
