Recruiting Football Talk VII

Kiffen has always been my guess.

Possible there are burned bridges there though.

That would be my guess as well. Last night a caller on Basilio’s post game mentioned that it’s unlikely Kiffin is offered the job. Apparently, some of the Joey Freshwater situations with co-eds were not good. Enough so that Kiffin needs to stay away from Tuscaloosa.

Since Lanning said no, I definitely feel it will be Kiffin or Norvell. Longshot for DeBoer, Leipold, etc.
DeBoer would be a terrible hire for them, imo. Grubb is elite, but Washington likely promotes him to HC if KD leaves (if not, he’s getting another job in a year-ish anyways). KD also has zero ties personally or recruiting wise to the south. That said, hope they get him!

Normally don’t post stuff like this…. Lost a close friend in a car accident last night, everyone that knew him is taking it really hard as he was friends with anyone and everyone. Prayers for his family and everyone involved are appreciated

Sorry for your loss. This post hit me pretty hard. Lost my BF of 25 years a few years back and it still hurts. They say time heals but not always

No matter who Alabama hires it will be difficult for them to replicate what Saban was able to do. If that coach met or exceeded Saban’s achievements it would be remarkable. I don’t know if it’s possible in this new landscape.
Not possible now in my opinion. Everyone can pay players now. Bama had the SEC and the NCAA in their back pocket for 25 years.

Other teams being able to pay players like Saban instead of receiving penaltes that Saban has always been exempted from, beginning with his first class at Bama, has been the end of Saban.

Saban has spent the entire NIL era lying through his teeth that there was parity before NIL, but that "NIL was ending parity." I can't believe people fall for that scumbag.

NIL was the end of Saban.

I would expect Saban to start to insisting (out of the blue) to his media sycophants that NIL had nothing to do with him quitting.

That will be a gigantic tell that NIL was the end of Saban. He is desperate that people don't notice the obvious.

I'm still curious if Bama would chase Dabo... the recent back/forth he's had with Clemson fanbase makes me wonder if things have soured there and he's interested in a new location.

Also...I don't think Bama would even offer him, but I'm curious of Dan Mullen makes a return to coaching next year (NFL or College) with all the potential opportunities that may pop up.

IF for example Franklin to Bama...Mullen to Penn State wouldn't shock me.
