We have fans giving Heupel **** for that following Gump, Butch, Dooley...Even if they can find a guy who can go 10-2 or 9-3 most years, (a) that is a huge step down from what that fanbase is used to, and (b) they lose the mystique they have had and just become one of the top handful of teams in the SEC (which is still a strong brand, etc., but not the inevitable powerhouse they have been).
Funny...and sad...because it is so accurate.Reports that in an exclusive interview with ESPN's Rece Davis, Greg Sankey has admitted that Birmingham deliberately rigged officiating against Tennessee all year, beginning with the second game. "We thought we could steal some games there and seriously damage team morale and their recruiting, and turn a lot of fans against their own team" Sankey said. "We wanted to do it as a tribute to Saban because he's the best guy any of us in the Birmingham office have ever worked for.
"It got a little out of hand in the Roll Tide-Tennessee game because even though our refs crookedly turned multiple Vol TD drives into FGs early, Saban was still getting badly outcoached and it was obvious. We told our officials at halftime no matter how obvious it is, we have to dig in and rig every play if necessary for Nick. He's the greatest cheater in the history of the game, and our officiating office respects that.
"Plus, although we knew that even though most everybody in the country would notice rigging that blatant, we also knew we could count on you guys at ESPN to start a "Milroe for Heisman" stunt and a second PR campaign that "this game was the beginning of one of Saban's best coaching performances in history," and that the television crowd would all immediately forget what their lying eyes had seen when they heard that.
"It's usually about two days before most people -- even Tennessee fans -- suppress a blatant racketeering job in their minds. Sports announcers are the ultimate date rape drug. We owe a lot to you guys covering up the obvious for us, during and after games."
Bama definitely wanted Lanning. Don’t let the Bama mod butthurt/backpedal distract from the fact that they absolutely got turned down.Looking more and more like Lanning (or his agent) got his name out there so he could come over the top today with his "Oregon is the best!" video and recapture some spotlight that Washington stole from them. They're going to use the big bowl blowout and his "Bama wanted me" pitch on the recruiting trail. I'd imagine to great success.
I.e., Bama already being played. Enjoy.Looking more and more like Lanning (or his agent) got his name out there so he could come over the top today with his "Oregon is the best!" video and recapture some spotlight that Washington stole from them. Both are true.Looking more and more like Lanning (or his agent) got his name out there so he could come over the top today with his "Oregon is the best!" video and recapture some spotlight that Washington stole from them. Idk if it’s this same mod but wasn’t another one of their mods just last night saying things would move very fast with Lanning? Like, before the weekend fast? Then the very next morning Lanning posts that on Twitter. And now they are saying “well, i don’t even know if a shot was taken”? lol.here's one of their mods lol
