Recruiting Football Talk VII

The narrative is they don’t attack the top flight portal guys and some top flight recruits because they don’t want to ruin the “culture”. When the team gets hit with adversity they turn into wet paper. USCe. Florida, Georgia. Penalties galore and all of that so what’s the culture? All of these top notch transfers making noise at other programs I have rarely heard of them being basket cases. Staff going to have to adjust that approach. UT doesn’t play in the pac 12 or AAC.

So let me get this straight you are picking probably the worst decade of UT football to derive your statement from?
We aren’t exactly the running out the 90’s teams now are we? A true freshman never started here until peyton. He’s a generational talent. Ainge/Schaffer were next, they got murdered in ‘04 too. Happy?

I think him showing up a little more had to do with the fact that Florida had taken their foot almost totally off the gas. Joe is toolsy as hell, so he will always show flashes but that will be all we get. No consistency and no true ability to run the offense. Jmo.

They did on offense but not defense. The pass to Thornton was a thing of beauty along with the throw to McCoy and the Keyton TD catch had me estatic. The one drive when we got into a flow and was able to use the hurry up without checking to the sidelines was the best I’ve saw Joe look.

In all honesty the game was lost when Florida was 7-8 on third downs and kept the ball away from us the whole first half. Joe was better the receivers stepped up. The defense and offensive line did not play to standard. We are really hurting with cooper and Mincey out. Pili and Charles on the defensive side hurt too along with Simmons.

*Jacob Warren wasn’t available either IIRC

The USCjr-TAMU @ home stretch just became really big.

Keep the 2nd half offense from last night rolling, win those 2, and you're 5-1 right back in the top 10-15 going into a lackluster Bama team.

Lose those 2 and things are going to suddenly look really rough.

Keep focused and learn from what worked late yesterday and what didn't early on.

No one is going to play prevent defense for 60 minutes and have a QB with a broken hand running the opposing offense in those games

I think just getting to 4-1 before the bye is a huge win, now. You can recalibrate some things during the bye week.

Good points! I dont know what the right decision is. Why I'm typing on my phone and not sitting in my million dollar mansion.

I don't think throwing him to the wolves last night would have been the best decision, even though that's what I was screaming at halftime last night.

If CJH has any intention of making that move we will find out this coming weekend. Sets up perfect for that scenario if he feels inclined.
How did you find out how much my home was worth???? Besides it's only 750000 not a Million...😎

Exactly. We lost. We let them dictate the outcome and didn’t fight back. Build off the 2nd half and let every team left on the schedule know what they are up against.

Every game is still winnable. Nobody looks that strong. Need Coop to come back and hopefully that give Joe the extra 1-2 seconds to throw the ball downfield like he did last night. Every game is not going to be easy though and we aren’t gonna blow out teams like we did last year. Also need Pili back and to bench Hadden for slaughter cause he is a liability. He makes a good play from time to time but he’s just too inconsistent to leave him out there.

Don’t worry everyone, “All Pro” Joe is lighting up practice four days a week.

1, 5, & 13 on defense are just inches away four days a week.
Has it ever crossed your mind that the people behind them are actually just worse and that’s the best we have, rather than they’re playing ****** players for … fun? I guess

Defense was awful but having an offense that plays fast while going 3 and out every time….. will absolutely kill the defense.
But the defense did it to themselves last night. UF completed something like 7 of their first 8 3rd down attempts.

But UF finished at 50%. 2nd half we got off the field and they got PLENTY of rest.

Defense has to get themselves off the field.

Can someone educate me on whether or not diving at a runner’s feet to try to tackle them is good technique?

It just seems like our secondary rarely ever tries to simply run through the ball carrier.

Hadden can’t play zone. We do better with Slaughter at Safety and Walker sliding down to star. Charles out really hurts things too.
