That's the point though of us that don't like Barnes.

I'd trade everything he has done here for Bruce's or Frank Martin's FF runs.

At UT though it's a debate between him and Mears imo, and if Barnes reaches a Final Four or Elite Eight this year I think he ends the debate.

The moment you compare a coach in a sport to your all-time great list, the debate is kind of over. Is he an all-time top 5 or ten coach? Maybe not, but there are five to ten guys, so it is a stupid debate. Also, how many schools have General Neyland and John Wooden in their histories? Duke is a basketball school, and they should have a top-ten coach. UT is a football school. To have a Barnes-caliber guy and a Vitello-caliber guy at a football school is a testament to what UT is putting together. It is nothing short of amazing, and people should soak it in more.

Ok here's one for you.
UCONN.... they don't pull in a ton of 5 stars. They've had 3 different coaches make runs this decade.

Basketball School. So they get basketball coaches and basketball players. Let me know when they make a New Year's Six bowl in football and a college baseball world series. You and others won't shut up when Barnes does well in the tournament this year, which I believe he will. You'll talk about how he should have done it before. Barnes may not be the world's greatest tourney coach, but he's a top 5 character in the sport for all the best reasons. Bruce Pearl cannot hold Barne's jock strap from a character perspective. I am sorry you would give that away, but I also know you are not alone.

If he actually makes a run I'll leave him alone, but I have 0 reason to believe he will.

I get it people like the character crap Yada yada..... I'm going to be honest Brandon Miller is too far, but give me the George Pickens in football, the Caleb Loves in basketball. The bad boy TN Baseball team was one of the most fun teams I've ever followed. At the end of the day, I want TN to win.

Out of their top 8 contributors last year, I doubt any of them were ranked outside of the top 100 nationally as recruits.

Vols last year more like 3 of top 8 players ranked in the top 100 nationally.

Just for talent comparison purposes.

But then that begs the question if Barnes as good as people act like he is, why can't he get those guys?
