Ok here's one for you.
UCONN.... they don't pull in a ton of 5 stars. They've had 3 different coaches make runs this decade.

Bad example, Jim Calhoun built that brand to what it is and he's arguably in the top 5 greatest HC of all time.

And despite Ollie winning he was bounced as soon as he fell off. UConn is also in what many consider the mecca for basketball talent in the US. Almost centered between New York and Boston and ESPN studios are basically on campus.

1st team All American 👀

DE: James Pearce Jr., Tennessee

Pearce tied for the SEC sacks lead (10) last season with Dallas Turner and Nathaniel Watsonand returns for his junior season as one of the top NFL draft prospects in the league. The 6-5, 242-pound Pearce has terrific burst off the edge and is a nightmare for any tackle to block. He was tied for fifth nationally last season with 38 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

Out of their top 8 contributors last year, I doubt any of them were ranked outside of the top 100 nationally as recruits.

Vols last year more like 3 of top 8 players ranked in the top 100 nationally.

Just for talent comparison purposes.

it's a classic "I didn't check this, but I'm gonna say it either way" post we get from him.

This year UCONN has 7 RSCI top 100 players (4 are top 50), their lowest ranked 72nd. Vols have 6 and only 2 are top 50
last year UCONN had 6 RSCI top 100 players (4 were top 50)
21-22, 6 RSCI top 100 players and 3 were top 50 with 1 being 52nd

Hurley's first year they only had 3 RSCI top 100 players, since then he's had at least 4 every year and he's had at least 6 the last 3 years.

UCONN is the closest thing to a basketball blue blood that exist that isn't universally considered a blue blood, hell at this point I'd have them above UCLA and Indiana.

👍 Facts are stubborn things.

UConn - proven basketball school. Add in Geno. Located in a mecca for basketball players.

UT - football school. FORMER mecca for women's basketball players. NEVER mecca for men's basketball players.

CRB is doing an amazing job. UT has never had a FF in its history. They has a legit opportunity this season. If guys stay healthy, this season will determine CRB's tournament competency unless they stack the seeding and officials against UT too much to overcome as they usually do. We have some quality depth who will only get better as the season goes on. That is far different than in years past.

He changed the O system for this season. They can now do multiple things with the talent they could not do consistently in the past.

Nice you just totally missed the point.

They dont have the resources TN does, they aren't in a premier conference. I will admit, after I said that I did look it up and they do have more talent than you'd expect. But the point is there's no reason they can do things that TN cant.

You missed the point, UCONN basketball has MORE resources than TN because they're a single sport minded school. Basketball is king and that's who gets fed there.

UConn is just ahead of TN, because Pearl's "foundation" was built on ice, so really Barnes is the first HC of our lifetime to build something substantial here. He may not be the guy that gets us to the promised land, but he's proven it can happen here.

He's recruited 7 of the top 10 rated players in UT history and coached 8 of the top 10 he took Hubbs from "bust" to finishing 22nd in the SEC his final year in total points and 18th in PPG.

He's had terrible tournament performances. Doesn't erase that he's a great basketball coach though.

I don’t agree w that. I’d be just fine w Tebow college production. You can be great in college and just not project well to the NFL
Ok..I don't necessarily disagree...but Nico ain't Tebow and he is the kind of QB that projects well. Look...if Nico is still here as a SR..."in my opinion"..then something not good has happened along the way, and I'm not going to name it, because I don't want to speak that evil into the universe.

In the past you might ab able to argue resources, but now not close.

DW, is the first AD at TN to care about anything other than football. Barnes has more resources than any coach ever has here for basketball, and I do believe DW gives equal support as to what a UCONN gives to their basketball program.
