Leonhard would be amazing hire. He’d be the HC on defense basically which is what UT needs desperately. Very experienced and young mind calling defense. Everyone gloats about him in the industry
Sorta like Tim Banks?

Im not ready to throw him out yet. Martinez perhaps.

Play calls on defense don’t seem like the issue.

11 missed tackles in FL game. 10 from secondary.

Tim banks doesn’t have near the track record as Jim Leonhard has… you would be kidding yourself to think that lol
first off Huep isnt going to change. Banks is leaving only if he takes a HC job. TN changing course always has myriad issues that seem to take decades to correct. So, for Sal Sunseri, Justin Wilcox, and every other DC change. Im out.

Many of our issues stem from inability to get pressure. We do much better when we can pressure QB. Look how Mertz performed after he was hit.

Also, and I'm going back to missing on a lot of high end DE and DT prospects. I am 150% underwhelmed with our DT recruiting, and portalling. Id say we've had middling success there. We have tp hit on some of these top 100 guys.

you mean 34? or 43?
I don’t believe there’s a true 3-4 or 4-3 defense anymore. Main difference is we’d need that fireplug NT type…which I don’t think is on the roster. And then your two other ends are more about taking on blockers and getting a push and allowing your edge players to attack. It’s a reset we’ve seen before. That’s not naysaying the move, but it’s a caveat for which fans have to be prepared.

Enjoy the failed banks experiment. Don’t forget the annual 30 burger to SEC rivals

TMac targeted 4 times. Allowed 4 receptions for 43 and a TD.

Hadden targeted 2x. 1 reception for 11 yards.

11 missed tackles. 10 of 11 came from secondary.

Hadden 3 missed tackles.

TMac 3 missed tackles.
I’ve been saying all offseason how bad TMac is, the rest of the season we should roll with Turnage at star and Burrell/JGL/Slaughter at CB

Wisconsin defensive efficiency metrics in Leonhard’s 6 seasons are all better. WAY better than the garbage Banks has thrown together the last 3 years. Leonhard also coaches the secondary (great at it). Did way more with less at Wisconsin. Banks is a MAC conference coach
Banks just doesn't have the players yet. Needs 4-5 more recruiting classes. JMO

Florida game is always our first big test, and despite how ****** everything is for them they still have more talent on roster than us and they still play their best game against us.

Last year we had a better OL, better QB and an elite WR that made up the slack. This year we didn’t. And the defense lacked fire to generate enough negative plays to take momentum away.

If Tim banks needs a HC job they should call half of Vol nation. We’d all recommend him 1000% soft zone baby easy completions and defense that’ll be Swiss cheese to every legitimate opponent while you’re in the championship mix

No thanks. 3-4 can stay in Deep South.
