Recruiting Football Talk VII

It seems very simple to me. We will always have 7-10 wins, maybe an outlier year, but for the most part somewhere in that range. We will not be a consistent 11-12 win team until we recruit with the big boys at EVERY position. Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Florida State (now) will always be at or near the top, again with outliers.

When we lose out on Chris Cole after they secured 6 or so top LBs in the last few years, it is just a larger picture of what we are. A decent team in a loaded conference.
We talk about Spyre all the time. Why are we not ponying up money? Seems like we have been beat out a lot by being outbid at the last second.

We should do our own version of the "What Other Message Boards Are Saying" but for the FF instead of the opponent.
Funny to imagine 🤣, a disaster in fact: an invitation to defend their takes here. Maybe do it in the FF. But maybe better to let it go.

1.) we don't have nearly as many members as we should

2.) even if every single Vols fan were a member, it's not always about the money

3.) even still, it's better to have more money (= resources) (= advantages), so hopefully our fans get on board

4.) we will have to lure no less than THREE, possibly FOUR transfer OL this year. Not just bodies, we need starters looking for a better situation (or more $). So our fans better get on board or this isn't going to take off like we hope it does.

I hope Heupel addresses the stupid 30sec long celebratory handshakes and dances after a score.
Well, since he let Hadden sprint 35 yards into the endzone then start high fiving and flexing for fans and the camera after he lucked into a pick without missing a snap, I doubt it will be addressed.

Lol. Sounds like the makings of a great boondoggle.

I don’t remember UF running as much motion across the line to spread out the LBs against Utah either. Idk if they did that much against McNeese but we were completely unprepared for it and it gave us a ton of issues.
Motion assignments should be defense 101. If we can't handle that, then our inexperience is showing. I find it hard to believe it was addressed in practice either.

We'll see Nico this weekend, regardless of score he's going to get some PT gotta do it to keep the fans engaged and to help show Joe that he can't be comfortable.

The thing with Nico, he's physically ready, it's just whenever the coaches think he's mentally ready. Do they allow Nico to check with the sidelines or do they want him to be Hooker before he plays.
If Nico DOESN'T check with the sideline when the play clock is inside of 10 seconds I'll be happy.

Regarding Sampson: Wright is obviously the alpha back for us. But I can see why he looks at Small and wonders why he’s not getting those snaps. Everything Small does, Sampson does better.

Caveat: I haven’t watched him in pass protection enough to make a call there, though not sure how good Small is with that either. Or how often we actually ask our backs to stay in to pick up the blitz

Another thing to consider. In the first 2 games, Sampson seemed to get the majority of his snaps in the redzone. We weren’t in the redzone much against Florida.

Not sure why, or even if, Sampson is the redzone back, but it’s something that just occurred to me

Team has a chance to be 3-1 and fans need Nico to be engaged?

Not all, but a very vocal amount.

Also the people throwing money at the NIL collective want to see what they're spending it on. Nico IS the future and the high profile investment for NIL, UTSA is the last team we face before we're deep into SEC play. They didn't play him a snap against Austin Peay (rumored injury I know, but should have been a game where Joe watched the last quarter)
