The NCAA should publicly apologize to the University of Tennessee, lift all of our previous sanctions and restrictions, and agree to investigate Georgia and Alabama. Throw in the new NCAA President publicly kissing Donde Plowman's ass. If all of these things happen, we will agree not to end them.

You're assuming credible evidence. UT Chancellor is claiming that the NCAA is trying to enforce rules after the fact.

If UT broke the rules at the time, then so be it. But you seem to be the only one here willing to assume that, especially considering that the Nico NIL contract was signed while the NCAA was in its post-SCOTUS NIL silent period where they neglected to make rules.

After Nico's contract (perhaps in response to it), they came out with guidelines. Then they started back-washing rules.

This is the part where I have a big problem with the NCAA.... you can't punish a "crime" that wasn't a "crime" the day it was committed. The NCAA absolutely panicked and ran to congress to save them while schools did everything in the world because the NCAA left an unregulated void. That void needed regulation and still does but you can't go back in time and apply new rules to past events.

Anybody have more info on this voice vote re presumption of guilt by only 23 member institutions as part of a special proceeding? That’s shady as hell. Is there info on who the 23 institutions were?
You mean, for instance, whether the Chair of the NCAA Board of Directors -- Jere Morehead, the President of the University of Georgia --approved it?

The absolute last thing in the universe the NCAA wants to do is get back in front of the Supreme Court of the United States.
LFG!

Seriously, that's why they are recruiting members of Congress -- the biggest bag game in the land! -- to write laws for them to shield them from Constitutional protections.

It's all such a tangled web.

That's clever, they're basing the reasonableness of the contract on his joining the nfl instead of an ncaa team to avoid ncaa saying they recruited him to Tennessee.

Strains credulity since they're called the volunteer club, but maybe it'll hold up.

It will be messy. The whole NIL thing is.
