Recruiting Football Talk VII

I think there's about a 0.0001% chance Tennessee sees any kind of penalty from the NCAA out of any of this.

And obviously it sucks that we are going to once again be negatively recruited on this BS nonsense. But I can honestly see a works where this turns into a recruiting net positive. If Tennessee, either the state or the University, comes off the top rope on the NCAA and effectively bars them from policing NIL in the state or even nationwide, it really highlights Tennessee as the premier NIL player.

And I say that as not a fan of the current state of NIL whatsoever. But still.
All the coaches have to do is point to our lawsuit and where we’re sticking up for players rights. That will shut down any negativity imo.

Dan Lust (lawyer) on 104.5 discussing VOLS vs NCAA. Notes:

- Shocking that within 24 hours the AG Lawsuit is filed. Surprise response time that is unprecedented with previous cases.
- The rules of a private institution generally does not win when going up against state law. More often than not, state law takes precedent. This was only a matter of time before this happened.
- The NCAA went a year without punishing anyone, and then went another year with only punishing Miami women's basketball, and then all of a sudden gets UF, FSU, and now UT. If they allowed this conduct to happen, and now punish people, the optics are horrendous. You aren't really punishing anyone; it leaves a sour taste.
- Not surprised it's UT because of the disdain from the NCAA but surprised it took this long. This should have started in 2021.
- People should have their expectations checked. The filing of the lawsuit doesn't do anything until a judge rules on it. May take a lot of time.

Not a lot but he expounded more on his own podcast last night if you'd like to listen.

So basically business as usual nothing will be handed down till after the court case which will take years of litigation…

So much of this is optics. In the world of what we know, as few of us are attorneys. We see perception. Recruits see that also.

JH is on record saying negative recruiting has been the hardest thing thus far due to the previous invest.

We are out in front of this, and this time. We are on the offensive. That is going to resonate.

One of my boy's watching over Sodor. (Yes i'm aware my house is mess and half the wood is painted).
**** that's clean compared to the damage my 3 year old grandson does every weekend.

15 minutes to pick up toys and put in toy box. 3.5 minutes for Liam to dump them back out..

This topic really is too big to really be discussed in an on-line forum..........It's a worthless rant

The NCAA screwed up years ago by not allowing student/athletes to make money and levying penalties for transferring.
They let up. Great.

But the way the NIL is set up now is just plain wrong. Athletes should be allowed to sell autographs, do TV commercials, work with a company to sell their jersey, etc...........That's what people wanted all along....not this.

Some sort of college football and basketball will be around. The vast majority will be non-scholarship..........but the non-revenue collegiate sports will be gone soon. THAT is a shame.

Need to remember...........this is what we fans wanted. 🤔
The demise of the NCAA started in 1984 when they lost control of television broadcasting rights. First the schools got paid, now the players get paid, it was inevitable. NIL was never going to stop at just autographs and Jerseys, too much money involved. You can't legislate economics. It is volatile right now but the market will ultimately decide.
