Dan Lust (lawyer) on 104.5 discussing VOLS vs NCAA. Notes:

- Shocking that within 24 hours the AG Lawsuit is filed. Surprise response time that is unprecedented with previous cases.

I don't find it shocking. The AG has been waiting for any excuse to do this since 2021. I'm sure he sees it as an easy win both judicially and politically.

I'm sure he knew the NCAA was poking around on campus about 5 minutes after Donde knew.

Look at every statement we’ve ever made at the start of an investigation. “We’ll fight this, the allegations are unfounded, blah blah blah”
Another university/state that is relatively uninvolved is staking a claim in you being wrong. I’ll take their opinion over somebody on the internet. We aren’t losing this one and the NCAA ain’t doing anything

Is Charlie Baker the worst NCAA president of all time? The guy has lost every topic and is going to orchestrate the end of the NCAA.

He’s trying to get back at college football since his dad failed after one year as a college football coach, while also raising 12 children.

Some of you may get the reference.

Must suck to live in an area surrounded almost entirely by dolts and idgits.
Maybe he needs to move to a cesspool like LA, Portland, San Fran, Seattle, New York, Chicago, Detroit..etc etc etc....so he can get his fill of what real lunatic idiots do when they run the show...f'n moron..those idiots are ruining the f'n world.

I will say that the news we've learned today, especially the fact that a lawsuit from the State of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Virginia has already been filed, has greatly reduced my concern. My argument was always about how much time would pass before Tennessee would get a positive resolution and what damage could take place within that timeframe. It's clear that Tennessee, all the way up to the governor, was prepared and ready to fight right now, and not wait until a notice of allegations was actually presented. I still think we might come out of this with a few bruises, but we're taking the fight to the NCAA head on, and I think we'll have plenty of support from other states. We will win the war.
I disagree wholeheartedly about the bruises. IMO, much to the NCAA’s chagrin, this make us look like a BOSS to all the prospective student athletes and their parents. I think it actually helps the perception of us in recruiting. Takes us from being looked at as inept to being seen as leaders in the fight for student athlete rights.

Exactly. This won’t be an issue for recruiting, imo

The demise of the NCAA started in 1984 when they lost control of television broadcasting rights. First the schools got paid, now the players get paid, it was inevitable. NIL was never going to stop at just autographs and Jerseys, too much money involved. You can't legislate economics. It is volatile right now but the market will ultimately decide.
The demise began when some decided that there should be no such thing as amateur athletes

But I digress.............:)

The truth is that Tennessee is going to pour millions into legally protecting NIL. And they are most likely going to win easily.

But the truth and the narrative are two different things. We were never going to get hit with a post season ban last time, and yet that was used against us repeatedly. I'm sure they will do the same thing again.

Remains to be seen which narrative will win out. I think the situations do have their differences. Since we pled guilty last time we were always going to get some kind of punishment. In this case, I think you can tell recruits we are going to get absolutely nothing handed down.

There are amateur athletes. But their coaches don’t make multiple millions of dollars a year, and their leagues don’t have multi-billion dollar TV rights deals.

Those things were never going to co-exist in perpetuity.

not for long............

But, anyway, it is what it is. Not a dang thing can be done now. :)

I just think ol Skanks is just jumping on the the winning team's bus. If the winds were blowing in the other direction, he'd be throwing us under the bus. Jmo
I think Sankey sees this as expediting the process into a super conference apart from the NCAA with him as the leader.
