I have wondered that before, what it would look like...saying, no. What do y'all think? Can they actually prohibit us from giving max amount of scholarships? I guess it's a serious question. If the NCAA said, "you're only allowed 70, 75 scholarships", and a university said, "Yeah, I don't think so...we're giving 85"...what happens?

I guess we COULD tell them to "eff off". Then what? Go play in the bowl they've banned us from? Can we truly do that? I know the CFP is it's own separate thing, so we may could get away with it there, idk. To Weezer's post...OK, we gave in on Pruitt because we really did break the rules; but...if the NCAA is really that powerless, why didn't we just tell them to eff off there...why doesn't everyone...breaking rules or not?
Because had we done that, then we give Pruitt a check for $12 million. It was a brilliant business move on the university’s behalf.

Seeing our administration slinging flames at the NCAA has been fun, but I doubt there will be any resolution for quite some time. There will be public jabs back and forth. The NCAA will try to leak anything they think may change the court of public opinion. I would think they have to have something, but who knows with that bunch. Tennessee will respond aggressively to any leaks that do occur.

In the end, I think Tennessee comes out on top and the NCAA buries itself. It’ll just be a process getting to that point.

To those that can shove their lol's up their a**...I guess I have to state: I don't believe the NCAA can beat UT and others in court, based on everything i have seen and read, so far...I believe we win, and quite possibly hammer the last nail in the NCAA's coffin. However, IF we don't win, and the NCAA gets favor and retains their power and position, then YES, they can do something to us. Anyone who thinks differently...lol.

Because UT needed the investigation/sanctions to escape the Pruitt buyout.

I understand that, and very much agree. Take another example then, that doesn't include trying to avoid a buyout.

Take any of the MANY other examples of teams getting bowl bans and scholarship reductions throughout the years. Take 1993 Auburn...they were undefeated, could've played for National Title; but they were on probation, bowl ban. If the NCAA is so toothless, why didn't Auburn tell them to shove it?

It was convenient for us to get rid of Cornbread last time around. As for why everyone doesn’t tell them to take a hike, power resides where people believe it resides. Many of the NCAA’s member institutions still buy into the NCAA as a powerful governing body. More and more are beginning to see the NCAA for the joke it is, but many don’t.

As long as most schools abide by what the NCAA says do, there is a limit to what a school can do in terms of telling the NCAA to take a hike.

The NCAA wasn't nearly as weak then as they are now. The anti-trust actions and court losses have been having a cumulative effect. If the NCAA steps out of line, schools take them to court.

I don’t know what would happen. I’m not sure if we could get any with it, but I think certain select schools and personalities could.

Maybe using UT, trying to avoid a buyout, wasn't the best example. See 1993 Auburn, or FSU now.

I don’t know who could have seen that coming…. I have preached that since the beginning of the first investigation… Never invite the NCAA on campus…. never investigate for them… you can pretend to cooperate like Dickey use to do but never fully cooperate.

They started wanting to teams to punish themselves in the early 90’s…. late 80’s…. They always added more punishment to it and would typically end up being more than the ones that bucked up against them.

9/10 the teams that stood strong against the NCAA ended up with less punishment than the ones that didn’t…. The NCAA doesn’t have the resources or the ability to investigate these issues… If you hand them all your dirty laundry…. This is what happens… I’m so glad we are standing strong against such an unjust organization.
This was the issue I had with the chancellor the first go round. We were too accommodating. I think she’s learned exactly what you are saying and is doing great this round. We have good leadership and she knows the NCAA is crooked as heck. She will not make that mistake again and it became clear when they gave us more punishment than what was agreed on. Love what she has done since.

Good. It is a great value for what you receive as a Vol fan. I have spent about $500 on autographed stuff a grandson wanted of Hendon, Nico and Voltello plus clothing purchases. Proud member.

NIL was our get out of jail free card and the NCAA and their crony corruptocrats knew it. They are trying to put us back into jail using a letter opener when we have a Patriot missile locked on their azzes. You bet I'm going to support NIL.
What do donors receive? I never joined n past b/c I spend so much $$$ on tickets, weekend costs to and from games etc. Plus two kids in college (one at UT and one @ MS State). But I may join if it’s minimal.
