Yeah, I don’t think the timing is a coincidence.
I think this could be the AA's ticket to save face, whether it was a coordinated effort or not.

Whether they announce it or not, the AA could delay any planned actuon concerning us until after this committee provides its recommendations, then just stand down.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Yup.

Hopefully people will stop freaking out and we can get back to winning the SEC in basketball, then baseball. Oh, and Spring Nico ball 👀
You know the freaking out ain't stopping. It'll just go back to freaking out because the other team scored first, or we didn't get a recruit they thought we should have.

I could have told him Tuscaloosa is a **** hole and saved him a trip

Rules, for other forms of cheating, sure. But not around paying players though.

Pros don't have all these ticky tack situations all the time because of it. You simply make contracts and pay according to them. It's almost too simple...too common sense.

Salary caps, sure. First we need salaries. Caps on NIL? NEVER. That is not legal and never will be.

This system is so messed up and yet the universities bury their heads to avoid giving up power. It's literally pathetic to watch. And here comes some "new NCAA aka SECB1GAA" to avoid it for longer, I guarantee.

Any veil the universities can use to hide behind, they will.
Why could there be caps on Salary but not NIL? I'm already losing some interest just with this convo. Part of my joy was that it was an amateur sport and players were more likely to choose a school based on a coach, atmosphere, upbringing, educational offerings (for some), and more. Now? Mostly money.

I think sports has to have an even playing field or it is little more than rigged 🦬💩.
Ok then salary caps?

Then we agree. Imo a CBA would include a salary cap from the owners' side.

Just trying to understand your position.

Then again, college sports has never been remotely close to an even playing field. Probably the most uneven.. due to lack of above. I can't say if it would help or hurt us, but the uniformity would be nice.

Salaries are paid by the university and the caps are a part of a CBA. Think of the pros.

NIL is privately making money off your Name, Image, and Likeness.

For example: the Bucks can only pay Giannis xx dollars due to salary caps. But he can go out and make $100mm off a Greek advertising agreement.

And I would expect the NCAA knows they will probably lose eventually. So this is having the desired effect. They're hoping the uncertainty diminishes our ability to recruit. I think they probably thought TN would just be much less aggressive in NIL. I'm my opinion we do the opposite, we become more aggressive. Dot all the I's amd cross all the T's but turn this into the opposite of what they thought would happen.

Bur the whole purpose of NIL is it's money generated by your own brand. If the "owners" in your scenario are the UNIVERSITIES? They're not paying SALARIES off of NIL. So how can THEY "cap" it?

Edit: Disregard if I misread your argument.
