The supporting cast today is what really failed.

I think moreso he was gaining weight. Like a lot. He came in overweight iirc. Did nothing in the offseason after he graduated high school. Then wasn't committed to doing the work. Transferring was best for both parties. He went somewhere less demanding.

Next year, Carr will be a scorer. Has potential to be elite. Cupboard is not bare. A couple of pieces could have us back in business.

You have to make plays, you just do. And we didnt. There isnt anything you can do when you dont execute. That isnt a Rick Barnes thing. Or a Bruce Pearl thing.

The refs called a horrible game, inexcusable. But that isnt why we lost.

What about Zach Edey makes refs not whistle him for obvious fouls? That's what I don't understand. Take away the non-whistles, and he's not that special of a player. His "greatness" comes from being allowed to foul and break rules with zero repercussions. Other than that, he's just really tall. So why do refs continually overlook his play? It's crooked as hell. I wish they'd do the same for Awaka, then it would have at least been a fair fight.

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Bama. They brought in a huge portal class and put together a top team. Turned it into a F4 run.

Tennessee can do that this offseason. No, you can't get a Dalton Knecht. Nobody will. But you can get a couple of guys like Love, Sears, Sheirman, etc and might be better set for success and have another great season.

Or sometimes you can have a bad team,
get hot, win your conference tourney just to make the dance, and then make your way to the Final Four.

The sport is so freaking volatile, you can’t make many definitive statements about a team even a week out from the tourney, much less a year out.

Just my 2 cents, kinda figured something was up today. Maybe it’s my old self thinking all this stuff with the NCAA wouldn’t pop up, but somehow I think it’s in the back of all of ours heads with the officiating today.

Gotta trim some fat too… unfortunately Dillione has not showed out wouldn’t be shocked to see him portal. Hopefully Boswell coming in can be as advertised. Outside of ZZ and Aidoo, Awaka, Gainey nobody has much experience. No scorer on the roster if ZZ isn’t on…. Need to portal shop for some offense badly…

He wasn’t a coveted recruit for essentially anyone, regardless of style. He barely had any offers.

Eh they have a roster and starting lineup composed of almost all seniors. They used the portal to compete this year. They were still ranked preseason. Did they play or finish the season better than expected, sure, but I wouldnt call what they did a rebuild.

And we found Knecht last year so I’ll hope we can find another. If not, and if our young guards don’t come out and surprise us with great performance, next year “could be a long one.”

I don't think that's it. Edey has gotten favorable officiating for like the last two seasons. It didn't suddenly start today. They just refuse to call fouls on him.
