But he also is entering his 3rd year of college, was at TCU the year before and transferred to Tulsa. Not saying he's a bad take, but might mean he's not as expensive as you may think. My only worry is he's a BAD 3 pt shooter.

I honestly just like that he has multiple years to play and plays defense it seems

I like Mack to btw.

Either way, it's going to be an interesting offseason for the vols and fun to watch a quite different team next year. I'm really curious to see how Estrella develops.

What does that have to do with nobody on our team besides DK being able to score? Nothing.

What’s that got to do with despite only shooting 11 FTs, only hitting 63% of them? Nothing.

What’s that got to do with us getting crushed on the glass 47-26? Nothing.

What’s that got to do with us shooting only 38%? Nothing.

What’s that hot to do with our upperclassmen failing to show up offensively? Nothing.

What’s that got to do with us hardly attacking Edey in the lane? Nothing.

It’s just sad that you and some others boil down this loss to one thing, officiating. When the actual stats tell a completely different story. Officiating was horrendous. But that’s a small part of it.
This is a lazy and tired take. You can go back and look at all losses (and wins) for any sport and find things that could have happened better.

At the end of the day the FT attempts in this game were 33 for Purdue and 11 for Tennessee. That is absurd. If you don't think that was the difference in a 6-point loss I don't know what to tell you. Edey doesn't get all the calls and the Vols win, period. The point is, even with the stats you quoted, we did enough to win.

Edey is a problem that nobody wants to solve. The path of least resistance is to just let it go and next year he'll be gone.

The inconvenient truth is that ignoring it isn't without consequence: it hurts teams not named Purdue. Giving an advantage to one player puts others at a disadvantage. Thinking the problem will solve itself next year isn't a pass for overlooking it this year.

I’m still sad
We all expected the game to be officiated like that, as did prolly most of the country.* But it is different when you see it happen. I was happy at the crowd that showed up to welcome our team home.

* For example (from the article I linked above: "An irate Tom Izzo, when asked by Fox during a timeout of Michigan State's Big Ten tournament quarterfinal against Purdue how his team might better defend Edey, bristled. “I don’t like how it’s being called. How’s that?” And in a tourney semifinal, Edey alone fouled out three Wisconsin players. [A] chorus of caterwauling that has trailed Purdue throughout this season."

But the people who cover basketball, especially the networks, have continually suppressed one of the biggest stories of the year.

spell it out. I dont follow.

Are you saying that the NCAA officiating is biased to one player? Or, that their "laisse faire" attitude, in wanting to only call whats easy is an epidemic?

Cause to me, anytime we played a team with a physical presence we got manhandled.

Plenty of times calls went our way. Plenty of times, 9, they didnt. Issue is we couldnt score.

Officiating is wildly inconsistent. And it sucks.

Exactly.

Looking back at some of the post-game comments. I find Barnes comments on Estrella intresting.
I wonder if Aidoo is encouraged to look around this off season.
Aidoo played most of this tournament like he had 1 foot out the door. Especially this weekend. It reminded me how Nkoumwah(sp) did last year.

I think he's gone.

Look at Purdues recruiting. They have another one coming in that's just as big.

Idk if it's that. He struggled all season against big physical centers. I just think it was a string of bad matchups for him

Had one in my barn this morning eating cat food.
I never harm them, I like having them around.
Some crazy friends of my bro stuffed a possum somehow in our mailbox one night when he was in high school. Funny, but bro was lucky not to loose his fingers when he checked the mail the next day. Talk about the unexpected!

Aidoo looked disengaged to me, even on the bench. I get not driving the ball, but he couldn't even catch the ball without fumbling it. That's usually a sign of thinking about other things.

Tampering is real

Is Rick going to get more aggressive in recruiting? Last couple classes haven’t been exactly stars. Youth yes but I didn’t see any game changers. Bama recruiting top 4 and getting who they want from the portal. I know these numbers are not totally accurate but there is no reason the University of Tennessee NIL average valuations should be 17k for 2023 and 9.8k for 2024. Bama at 146k and MIZZOU at 85k?!?! Rick is a great coach but we can do better than this NIL wise…

@butchna

Could possibly 6 QB's go in 1st round?

Hearing

Williams
Daniels
Maye
McCarty
Nix
And now Penix

1983 reborn
I think Nix and Penix DESERVE to be first rounders, but individual team needs and priorities knock them down to second day imo. Expect the Rams to tab one of them for Stafford’s eventual successor.

The even bigger story than the fouling is the NO CALLS ON 3 seconds.
He literally camps out in the lane with a Coleman lantern making s’mores on the fire 🔥. It’s a joke.

I’ve thought a lot about this. In my time as a fan (early memories starting in mid-80’s), here’s my top 5:

1. Allan Houston
2. Dalton Knect
3. Chris Lofton
4. Grant Williams
5. Ron Slay

If Knect was here multiple years, he would take #1. If I coulda seen the likes of Ernie & Bernie, etc., this list would be more complete.

Here is my top 5 - from my time as a fan - 1999 - and I am ranking this as greatest player, not shooter or something specific - overall, greatest player:

1. Dalton Knecht
2. Chris Lofton
3. Grant Williams
4. Ron Slay
5. Tobias Harris
