Recruiting Football Talk VII

I think Nix and Penix DESERVE to be first rounders, but individual team needs and priorities knock them down to second day imo. Expect the Rams to tab one of them for Stafford’s eventual successor.
You seen or heard anything about Bears maybe picking Daniels over Williams?

Also read Vikings might be trying to move up to grab one of the top 3 QB's.

Draft night is just little over 3 weeks away.

spell it out. I dont follow.

Are you saying that the NCAA officiating is biased to one player? Or, that their "laisse faire" attitude, in wanting to only call whats easy is an epidemic?

Cause to me, anytime we played a team with a physical presence we got manhandled.

Plenty of times calls went our way. Plenty of times, 9, they didnt. Issue is we couldnt score.

Officiating is wildly inconsistent. And it sucks.
My point is people say it's hard to officiate a guy that size. Okay, so it's hard. It's not easy for players to play against a guy that size, either. Theoretically, rules apply to all players of all sizes on all teams. If enforcing the rules is tough, figure it out.

On a broader note, few will disagree with you-- officiating is wildly inconsistent. Not a Tennessee thing-- a sports thing.

1. Exactly. There's enough money, make it happen.

2. Exactly. It sucks, period.

We all expected the game to be officiated like that, as did prolly most of the country.* But it is different when you see it happen. I was happy at the crowd that showed up to welcome our team home.

* For example (from the article I linked above: "An irate Tom Izzo, when asked by Fox during a timeout of Michigan State's Big Ten tournament quarterfinal against Purdue how his team might better defend Edey, bristled. “I don’t like how it’s being called. How’s that?” And in a tourney semifinal, Edey alone fouled out three Wisconsin players. [A] chorus of caterwauling that has trailed Purdue throughout this season."

But the people who cover basketball, especially the networks, have continually suppressed one of the biggest stories of the year.
I was glad fans showed out to welcome them home, too. Speaks volumes.

Thanks for last sentence, plenty actually believe it's just Tennessee being screwed over.

January 11, 2015 is when I said officiating is what it is. My stance hasn't changed since.

Referees should have to attend a press conference following the games. It's too easy for them to screw a team over, collect their check, and walk out the door. If the media could ask them questions, it might cut down on some of the "shenanigans". The optics would be better.

The referees need to be held more accountable for their actions.

That’s wishful thinking from Commanders fans. 😏 Bears sent a contingent to LSU’s Pro Day…most likely for Nabers and Thomas and/or other prospects. Poles didn’t have dinner with Daniels as he had Williams. It’s all but done pending medicals imo.

Our HC doesn't believe in NIL
Well… that’s the way of the game now. I love Rick and want him to coach here for as long as he wants but he does need to get with the times on NIL. Tennessee has as many resources as anyone. No reason we can’t be recruiting better than we are. Next year will be somewhat of a rebuild of the scoring output. Defense should have some good pieces in Zeigler, Mashack, Aidoo but yet again we enter into the unknown with scoring. Thank the Lord for Knecht this year. Dillione has shown nothing, Estrella will grow into a good player I think, Carr has lots of potential, DJ has had issues, Boswell will be a freshman, Phillips won’t factor in until later in his career if he stays, just not a lot to work with there on the offensive side. We will go as Zeigler takes us next year. If he doesn’t score we won’t win.

Would be funny if the mods had a misinformation/fake news/fact check alert every time this guys posts 😂

Is Rick going to get more aggressive in recruiting? Last couple classes haven’t been exactly stars. Youth yes but I didn’t see any game changers. Bama recruiting top 4 and getting who they want from the portal. I know these numbers are not totally accurate but there is no reason the University of Tennessee NIL average valuations should be 17k for 2023 and 9.8k for 2024. Bama at 146k and MIZZOU at 85k?!?! Rick is a great coach but we can do better than this NIL wise…
CRB might reframe his thinking a bit, but as his career winds down, his style is what it is. Players who like it come to UT and are happy; players who don't like it, don't respond well and leave with minimal attempt to keep them. Players who are all about the money aren't who CRB targets. If we could get more Dalton Knechts, we 100% would. But he was a special kind of player, and NIL wasn't the most important thing to him. Now will UT use NIL to keep some players? Selectively, yes. But UT will be equally willing to let guys go.

“Been said in the basketball forum” lol Jesus you think DK, Julian Phillips, and chandler etc came here for free? Quit being obtuse
He must not have seen the DK Salsaritas commercial any of the 500 times it has ran over the last few weeks. Lol smh

We need the 2 best scorers we can find.
