Recruiting Football Talk VII

Officials would be in favor of UConn if anyone. That repeat storyline is too juicy.

Also, how was Alabama Pat officiating their final four game?! That's insane to me that they let someone officiate their home state games this late in the tournament.
The ultimate storyline would have been UConn vs NC State.

State wins on a buzzer beater and it feels like the 80s all over again.

All joking aside, I like Kim Stephens. I've always wanted to see what a coach that's had success everywhere they've been to start their career could do here. I made the Urban Meyer firestarter, but it is kinda an OK comparison, as far as being really successful at lower levels/conferences before going to a national power.
I agree. She's won at two places where they don't win. She dominated in DII and then made a massive turnaround with Marshall in just one season. I don't think there's any questioning her ability to coach...she's clearly a really good coach. I get the questions about recruiting, but DW would give her everything she needs to put together a good staff that can recruit...and the LV name still holds a lot of weight. Let's be honest, recruiting can't get any worse than the 2023 and 2024 classes. I think she could win big at UT and would be around a long time since she's young.

Okay, so can we all agree that our VOLS basketball team was top three in the country? We never had a chance to play Connecticut and it would have been nice if 293278473874 fouls weren't called while Edy got one.
I'd say 4th. Houston is #2 in my book. Shead doesn't go down and unable to return, they're playing UConn at a lower spread tomorrow (-3.5 to -5?) than Purdue is (-6.5) imo.

If I had to guess I'd say we'd be -7.5 to 8.5 vs UConn. (Bama was -11.5 and couldn't even cover).

Edit: Purdue just now jumped Houston after last 2 wins and Houston's sad injury loss. Houston's been ahead nearly all season and imo are better.

At this point I'll be disappointed if it isn't her.

The "recruiting question" is just that. She may be great for all we know. I just don't think anyone tracks D2 womens recruiting and her 1 year at Marshall she apparently hit the portal (that's recruiting...) and instantly turned a .500 league team into a 17-1 champion.

I'd lean towards she can recruit.

So will I. But I wonder, if she is hired, can she recruit and will she be able to generate excitement from the boosters, fans and players? She isn’t exactly a big name.
Name means zilch.

Pearl and Heuepel weren't either. They just won...then folks and $$$ flooded in.

Or you can go get a "win the press conference" household name loser...then fail on the court...and the money and seats dry up a year later.

Play the long game. Win and the rest will follow.

That is the stat sheet he is looking at
I've never seem them give a player a stat sheet before a post game interview.

Did you see his post game interview last week? He got a ton of backlash for saying the "f" word on live tv. He also blasted sweet, old Rick Barnes for not offering him a scholarship. They gave him "talking points" last night to keep him from looking like a punk again.
