I don’t see him making that move. Pearl is a perfect fit at a “football school” because people kiss his hind quarters for the level of success he’s had. If he produces the same results at Kentucky that he has at Auburn and Tennessee, the natives in Lexington would get very restless.
You underestimate the power of ego. Pearl's ego is massive.

Anyone thinking Arkansas is in a worse spot with Cal than Musselman is crazy. Despite making a sweet sixteen and elite eight Arkansas's highest final AP ranking was 10th in the Musselman era. He went 111-59 for a 65.3% and made the dance only 3 times in 5 years. Cal is closer to Nolan Richardson and Eddie Sutton than Musselman. Only twice in 15 seasons did Kentucky miss the big dance and one was the shortened season post COVID.

Hogs are upgrading big time, kinda surprised they were able to land him but he has ties to one of their biggest donors in the Tyson family so not too surprised.

Seems like a situation where the admin/AD went after their people and then the big money donor said "Call Cal and we'll make sure we get him"

I think Kentucky despite being a blue blood might have a harder time landing another big name.

Cal owns 3 of their 4 highest win seasons and is 2nd all time in FF appearance there, tied for 2nd in NC there, 2nd in wins there, 2nd in SECT championships there, 5th in regular season championships, and 5th in win percentage at 76.9%

Way bigger shoes to fill than Billy Gillispie or even Tubby was when Cal took that job.

I think Cal will adjust his philosophy. Still get headliner recruits but will play in the portal for more older guys. Dude can get players. But needs someone to actually coach Xs and Os
Cal has never had problems getting the players but getting those 1 and done was never going to end well for him. I agree , his problem has been the Xs and Os. If he does not fix the Xand Os then Ark will get the same results as Ky got.

But Arkansas would be content with those results, unlike KY.

Happy Monday

April 8, 2024: To those of you whose lives has been hectic, use every opportunity to rest and be restored and renewed. Be good to yourself. Whatever things need attention can wait long enough for you to quiet your soul. Be still in order to allow your body to be rejuvenated before you forge ahead. Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
And there it is, again. Me being surprised, but not surprised. Why should I be? It makes perfect sense. Whenever my humanness takes over, 👆🏻 I'm reminded.

Thanks man.

You can be critical and still “like” or at least support the hire. I like the hire and will support her, but that being said, there are a lot of concerns that come with the lack of experience at a high level such as TN. And if that’s not concerning to people, then they’re either delusional or lying to themselves, or both. So LA is right, she’s got a lot of great to her, but she’s also got some bad that’s going to be rocky for a bit.
True.. for the record I like the hire. We weren't going to get a bug name, she was my pick after accepting no big name was coming.

But what do I know??

She is getting dragged

This is what baffles me, most of the Men's basketball fans KNOW Lady Vols pretty well. Even if they don't actively watch they keep up enough to know what Pat built.

But there are SO many diehard Lady Vols only fans that are just oblivious to the Men's team/history and it's baffling they take these shots with such confidence.

Donnie Tyndall
Cuonzo Martin
Bruce Pearl
Buzz Peterson
Kevin O'Neill
Wade Houston

All TN hires that had no P5 coaching experience.... in fact Rick Barnes has been the only hire in Men's Basketball History to have previous P5 experience (remembering the P5 didn't exist before 2014)

But…. There are very, very few that would not have something to be concerned about. Not wanting to pronounce doom on the day of the hire is different than being delusional. It just means stating the obvious as if it’s not obvious is obviously not an enjoyable thing while fans are wanting to talk about what might go right on the day of the hire.

I think despite her problems here Harper might have left some key players for Caldwell.

Sara Puckett
Kaiya Wynn
Karoline Striplin
Jillian Hollingshead
Jewel Spear
Talaysia Cooper

Avery Strickland
Kaniya Boyd

Bold = top 100 ranked outta HS players. The most talented team Caldwell will coach assuming no one leaves and that's even before she brings in any new girls.
Outside of SC and LSU, how many other really good teams are in the SEC?
