I'm genuinely curious as to what happens with CKC's husband. I mean he's an assistant for the Marshall's men's team. Does he follow her and work for Rick in some capacity? Does he find something at a small school in the area? Does he end up on her staff? 🤔
With the pay raise she's getting. . . I'd be surprised if he doesn't buy a john boat and fishing rod and find a pond to sit on all day before his pilates class.

Before Kim Caldwell got to Marshall they had primarily experience mediocrity. Just a bunch of .500 seasons.

Year one, boom, 26-7 17-1.

Most wins ever, best conference record ever, second NCAA appearance ever. First regular season title since 89 and it was shared.

Total dominance at Glenville State including a national title. You don't win like she has, where she has by out talenting people. X's and O's

And...she's...really...👀

She’s cheek’d up, ya feel me

Yes he is, absolutely a great coach. You don't win 77% of your games at Kentucky with 4 final four appearances and 1 national championship being bad.

Those are 2nd all time at Kentucky. He also has a total of 12 conference championships in 15 years there, 6 regular season and 6 SEC Tournament titles. Tennessee as a program only has 5 SEC Tournament titles.

Cal's 1 & done method was a Kentucky thing. He'll return to a more balance roster at Arkansas because he won't have the brand to replicate that recruiting philosophy and I don't know how anyone can say he's not a great X's & O's coach when he took UMass to a FF and even made a championship game while at Memphis. With exactly 1 player that was a 1 & done.

Tre Mitchell, Antonio Reeves, Sahvir Wheeler, Oscar Tshiebwe, Davion Mintz, Jacob Toppin, Olivier Sarr all portal players Cal brought in and won with and most he helped put in the NBA too.

If ya don't like Cal that's fine, but to act like a guy that's consistently brought in top recruits both HS and transfer is suddenly going to be lost at Arkansas where he'll likely have MORE NIL behind him is wild.

Arkansas could not have hired a better coach.
Yeah the notion he's bad because he's lost early in the tournament is just dumb. Jack Gohlke doesn't go nuclear and who knows. Tournament is crapshoot.

I think despite her problems here Harper might have left some key players for Caldwell.

Sara Puckett
Kaiya Wynn
Karoline Striplin
Jillian Hollingshead
Jewel Spear
Talaysia Cooper

Avery Strickland
Kaniya Boyd

Bold = top 100 ranked outta HS players. The most talented team Caldwell will coach assuming no one leaves and that's even before she brings in any new girls.
These gals better be willing to work harder than they ever have and get in better shape thsn they have ever been..KCs defensive style is really physically demanding. I know she subs a lot, but it is still rough.

I bolded the part that didn’t make sense to me knowing the history of Kentucky basketball before Cal arrived, his method needs to change but until I see that method changing it’s just your feelings on the matter…also not sure why ppl are liking your post even when I said he was a moderate improvement over Musselman.

It's a Kentucky thing for Cal, he wasn't just loading up 1 & done classes at UMass or Memphis...you realize he coached at a high level for years at other schools before Kentucky, right?

Not comparing her to Summitt at all, but she may be the last WBB coach we've had where she literally had girls puking at practices getting them in shape. KC is definitely going to have some serious conditioning going with her style of play.

Yeah the fact that she took over Marshall and immediately set the single season wins record (by 2 games too), and their highest seed in school history, most points per game in a single season ever in school history at 85.3 (which is nearly 10 more than the previous mark) and she's the only HC in Marshall history to win a regular season title and conference tournament title, and she did it in the same year.

I feel like in Women's basketball you still need to be a great coach if you are and you win then you'll land the talent. Dawn Staley at South Carolina has proven that.

Cal was recruiting the same way at Memphis. It was just a tougher pull. That 2009 class at UK with Wall, Cousins, etc. were all committed to Memphis before Cal left.

He can buy more than a john boat. He should be able to afford a pontoon with tiki torches.

I know Cal’s history as a coach and great would definitely be the term I would use however the past 10 years of his coaching “great” is not the term I would use knowing the talent he had
