Should be 4 + 8. The PAC12 is dead, leaving a Power 4 instead of 5. Champions of the SEC, Big10, ACC, and Big12 should be automatic bids. Then it should be the next 8 best teams. No other conference is deserving of an automatic bid.On3

The College Football Playoff committee is 'leaning' towards a 5+7 format for the expanded playoff,

A 5+7 format means the top 5 conference champions and the next 7 highest-ranked teams would make the 12-team CFP.
The G5 is going to get their say, but I don't think they deserve a seat at the table.On3

That’s dumb. Especially with conference realignment going on.On3

yeah, this reeks of having to be redone in short order once all this realignment stuff starts to settle. i'm not sure the Big 12 is/should be considered "power 5" anymore. the Pac 12 certainly won't be. the group of 5 should grow to the group of 7 when it's all said and done....Should be 4 + 8. The PAC12 is dead, leaving a Power 4 instead of 5. Champions of the SEC, Big10, ACC, and Big12 should be automatic bids. Then it should be the next 8 best teams. The 5th automatic bid goes to the best Group of 5 team not the now defunct Pac 12 winner...Should be 4 + 8. The PAC12 is dead, leaving a Power 4 instead of 5.
