More of a baseball guy than a football guy, but this games looks like we should want o control the ball running, take our shots when given, and depend on the defense to get them in some tough downs and distances to force a turnover or two. Am I right?? I think we may have to score 35+ to win…..seems like we should be able to run at will, force them to load the box and then hit them over the top. Having Cooper back should be huge. Am I thinking correctly??

The College Football Playoff committee is 'leaning' towards a 5+7 format for the expanded playoff,
@CFBHeather
reports👀

A 5+7 format means the top 5 conference champions and the next 7 highest-ranked teams would make the 12-team CFP.

Should be 4 + 8. The PAC12 is dead, leaving a Power 4 instead of 5. Champions of the SEC, Big10, ACC, and Big12 should be automatic bids. Then it should be the next 8 best teams. No other conference is deserving of an automatic bid.

Rattler and Johnson will probably throw for 300+ yards each… key will be running the ball on offense and hitting the middle effectively

The G5 is going to get their say, but I don't think they deserve a seat at the table.
Imo 6 conferences, top 2 teams in each conference, make the conference championship games the first round of the playoffs. Re seed teams after the championship games.

yeah, this reeks of having to be redone in short order once all this realignment stuff starts to settle. i'm not sure the Big 12 is/should be considered "power 5" anymore. the Pac 12 certainly won't be. the group of 5 should grow to the group of 7 when it's all said and done....

big 10, SEC, ACC starting next season will be the only 3 that matter. and really, only 2 of those matter unless FSU and Clemson and a couple of other of those programs step it up...(UNC, Miami in particular).

The 5th automatic bid goes to the best Group of 5 team not the now defunct Pac 12 winner...

Did this analysis this morning. Posted it in the FF, but wanted to also post here. Thoughts on this?

The chart below is the number of points we've scored per 3-minute period of each of our 4 football games so far. Each tick mark at the bottom represents a 3-minute period in which we did not score.

1695835574885.png

UVA: 7 straight periods with no TD (>21 min)
AP: 9 straight periods with no TD (2 FGs) (>27 min), then, another 6 periods (>18 min) in the 2nd half.
UF: THIRTEEN straight periods with no TD (1 FG) (>39 min)
UTSA: 8 straight periods with no TD (1 FG) (>24 min)

We have to cut down on these lulls.
