NFL of the 50s & 60s was a RB league. AFL started the throwing it all over the field and that was to draw attention to the new league. It was the “your dad and grandpa love the NFL but young hip guys love the AFL”Some before those 2 RB's.
Billy Sims
John Riggins
Tony Dorsett
Joe Morris
Wilbert Montgomery
The Falcons Running Back can't remember his name
George Rogers.
Franco Harris
All these guys carried the water for their teams in the 70's and 80's
I thought there would be no way he would come back due to the way he handled his jump into the portal. Same with Awaka, he had a door, but Barnes laid it out for him up front, but he chose going close to home . Barnes is handling this smartly with the portal. Regardless what happened behind closed doors with those two young men, Coach Barnes found what he needed for this team. Shut it, BOT and checker.Dang. Thought there was a chance he may be back? I’ll be honest that I do not keep up with the portal when it comes to basketball.
They were on par at least. Not sure why you can’t grasp that blocking for a traditional running offense with a TE and FB is much easier than blocking for a freelancing back in a Run & Shoot. It isn’t a swipe at Barry Sanders greatness to recognize his style didn’t lead to championships. Closest to him I remember was Marshall Faulk who has a ring but also was a receiving threat. All that to bury the lead. Emmitt Smith was elite at every level of football because he made his OL better. Set up his blocks and got stronger as the game wore down. To declare him merely good because his OL was otherworldly is an ignorant take.I’m sure you’ll tell us Barry had a much better O Line to boot as part of the argument…
Makes sense that I never liked him or the Cowboys during their run. Didn’t like Larry Bird during his or Michael Jordan. Add Tom Brady to my list of players I’ve detested but now properly appreciate. Makes sense that you’re down to counting my posts…very original tactic dating back to my SIXTH one overall. Never has shamed me into posting differently. Come back when you get new material.Makes sense you’re an Emmitt fanboy, being you’re a volume poster, pal.
Padded his stats like when he played with a separated shoulder against the Giants in the season finale and ran for 168 yards to win in overtime. I remember (once again) because I was pulling against him and the Cowboys. The greats shut you down when you bet against them.I mean 1 of those playoff games Lions beat Emmitt & Dallas 38-6 & Barry only had 12 carries for 69 yards, should have stayed in longer to pad stats like Emmitt did.
Agreed on all but, Jordan?Makes sense that I never liked him or the Cowboys during their run. Didn’t like Larry Bird during his or Michael Jordan. You are correct, of course Rodney was better than Troy, Fontes better than Johnson, etcThey were on par at least.
